Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
They're short of midfielders aren't they? Reasonable value, shame we couldn't push through the Bowyer swap deal. Craig 6700
They had Souness on earlier saying he was told at the very beginning of January that no money was being made available and that if he wanted to sign someone, he'd have to sell someone... Now I'm not trying to find excuses for him, but given the size of our squad there wasn't a chance in hell of anyone going out so no deal was ever gonna happen... Scottish Mag 3
How much is Bowyer worth then? 86933[/snapback] NEWCASTLE misfit Lee Bowyer priced himself out of a move back to Charlton - because of his £40,000- a-week wage demands. Bowyer was told he could leave Newcastle on a free transfer and was lined up to replace Danny Murphy at Charlton - but he could not agree personal terms and is now left in limbo at St James' Park. The midfielder, capped once by England, told Newcastle he was desperate to move back to London but was not prepared to fall in with Charlton's pay structure. Murphy left Charlton after Spurs boss Martin Jol clinched his £1.5million signature - but an 11th-hour move for Portsmouth's Matt Taylor failed. Hes worth fuck all it seems... Guest alex
Basically no club that could afford his wages are interested so he'll sit here until his contract is up and leave on a free. Can't blame him really.

LeazesMag 0
I don't think Murphy is any big miss, for starters if we were going to buy someone for that bargain type of price I would have prioritised a pacy player, and if we had more money I'd prefer Joey Barton in midfield or Jason Roberts up front. But of course we don't have more money, Souness has spunked it all replacing his bad eggs that he gave away Edited February 1, 2006 by LeazesMag
Shearergol 0
This club are pissing me off the way we undervalue our own players. We could get at least £1m for Bowyer if we really wanted!

That applies for a lot of players. If Comical Alan's rumours are true, Babayaro is on 50k. Do you really think any club would pay a fee and those wages to take him from us? Or Dyer. He normally would have a decent value, but do you think any club would pay him even half the wages he allegedly gets for sometimes wearing a toon shirt? The daft thing is we've bitten on the arse in the past because of this, Cort, Viana, etc. and we're still making the same mistakes. Nothing to do with the chairman of course
