Started watching Baz Lurhmans Romeo and Juliet last night. I thought it was pretty good and the soundtrack is decent too

I'm assuming you meant this post for the Single Mums subforum on mumsnet?

Star Wars : The Last Jedi

Utter shite. So, so bad. As said in the thread it feels like several stories glued together.

They some how took the fun out of Star Wars but couldn't introduce tension or intrigue. A lot of the characters new and old were absolutely awful & a good few can't act. The rest just aren't interesting.

Darth Goth might have been a decent character if he wasn't utterly clueless and soft as shite. Po is a decent character but kept getting told off by women for some reason, just when he was about to do Star Wars stuff.

Hammill was an absolute waste of time & Carrie Fishers acting was atrocious. Fair enough she might have been ill.

Comfortably the worst SW film anyway.

Saw it last night and thought it was ace tbh, the comedy didn’t mesh brilliantly in the early parts of the film and they didnt seem to have that much of a plan for what to do with Finn but the Jedi/rebel storylines were really well done.

Couple of moments in there were properly excellent, the Rey/Ren fighting together sequence, Luke rolling up to save the day and the lightspeed battering ram taking out the fleet was great.

General Hux is an excellent over the top villain too, enjoyed just about everything he did in this one.

Fuck me. A film that's been released a week ago, on a general film thread, and no spoiler tags. Cheers.

I know I've said the new star wars franchise is shite, but I'm still going to see it. Don't make it shiterer for me by knowing what's going to happen.

not much of a spoiler talking about the dead actress like

Well, there's more than that though, isn't there. Details about one of the fights for instance. It's not hard to spoiler tag this stuff.

On the other hand, if you're that bothered about spoilers for one of the biggest films of the year perhaps avoid the films thread for a week or two until you've seen it.

Well.... no. You may as well delete the thread if people can't read it in case someone posts a spoiler. Just tell us what you think about the film, but not what happens IN the film. It's a pretty simple concept.

Despite my aforementioned dislike for superhero films I watched Justice League this morning as it was on sky movies.

It's literally as if Alan Partridge wrote the script. Right down to the black robot shouting "BOOYA" when the baddie dies.

And the less said about fat batman and bald superman the better

Just got back from seeing Last Jedi with The Knacker (Fistlet II).

Going by the “Sweetie Bag Scale”,

( empty bag- kids are bored and neck sweets= shite film

full bag- kids totally engrossed in film, forget about sweets= Call Oscar), Knacker had a pretty much full bag at movie’s end, and loved it.

I really enjoyed it too, agreed the Leia/Superman scene was a bit “wtf”, they missed a trick by not having Luke lift his X-Wing out of the Oirish Sea and come charging in on it, and the casino with the galloping rabbit/donkeys can fuck off, but overall it was an enjoyable romp.

That’s as much critique as a movie about Telepathic Hippie Space Monks fighting Asthma Nazis needs.
