The Fish 10970
Star Wars could, should and on occasion has been excellent. But.... because it's a little more ephemeral and very popular it's criticised by grumpy old men. Renton is just boring as fuck when it comes to movies. Bet he loved the Lady in the Van, and Pearl Harbour too, the vanilla shitshow.
Gemmill 46034
I'm not criticising it because it's popular. I've twice tried to get through the last film - if my problem was that it was popular, I would never have started watching it. My problem is that the last one was shite. Gemmill 46034
Given that you think superhero movies are high art, I'm ok with that.

I think some superhero movies are brilliant ways to spend time (Nolan's Batman, many of the Marvel films). Some are horrifically cobbled together attempts to cash in on better ones (the rest of the DC movies, Transformers, TMNT, the rest of the Marvel films). I do think the Mindy Project is terrible though, so I guess we can't have a sleepover and paint each others nails...

Christmas Tree 4831
Spotlight. Excellent story but poorly executed. Still worth a watch though.

Park Life 71
I know it might dent my reputation as a hardened and cynical film reviewer on here but I quite enjoyed it.

David Kelly 1260
I thought it wasn't great at the start but got better. Ren isn't a great bad guy but in some ways I quite like that. In the other ones they were nails and knew what they were all about. Ren is a complete mess and I think there is a positive in that. I thought there was a few too many scenes that were done just for comedy and I wasn't keen on that. I'm happy having comedy in there as long as it's part of the story. I didn't really like Luke in it until the end.

Ayatollah Hermione 14053
Just back from Star Wars and enjoyed it in the main. Once it gets going, it's really good and moves at a great pace but the first 45 minutes/hour are pretty shaky at best. Prequel-level comedy, a really sloppy setting up of the plots and a tone that shifts from menace to slapstick. Feels like two scripts stapled together. Dr Gloom 22155
I thought it was too long. Could have been darker too. I was hoping it was going to be the empire of this trilogy. Not easy keeping everyone happy. I’m surprised st the backlash it seems have had with fanboys but there were some odd moments in it the casino sequence - a strange distraction of a side story. Why introduce the master code breaker character if they were just going to go for the next code breaker they happen to meet in a prison cell. Odd. Snope - after all the build up, the new dark power behind the curtain turned out to be a bit lame. Kylo Ren, who has already shown himself to be flawed with weaknesses, was able to see him off. kylo ren, who can stop blaster bolts in mid air, for some reason struggles to overcome some of snopes guards. Luke milking an alien - just why? the shirtless kylo ten sequence and the finn’s relationship with Rose, concluding with that awkward kiss - both felt a bit forced. All that said. I still enjoyed it. It was just too long. 8/
Kid Dynamite 7173
Am I the only one who has zero interest in Star Wars and Super hero movies? Started watching Baz Lurhmans Romeo and Juliet last night. I thought it was pretty good and the soundtrack is decent too
