toonotl 3116
Sister (8) was puzzled about how he could ride a horse from Germany to Spain without some milk and chocolate. That's brilliant.

toonotl 3116
Watched the Cobain doco. Not to get all psychoanalytic or anything, but I reckon that, given that Kurt was such a hyper sensitive person, he ended up with Courtney Love because she is a full blown narcissist. The tipping point for me came near the end of the doco where she is being interviewed. The interviewer asks, 'Most people don't like criticism, but Kurt seemed hyper sensitive to being criticised. What do you think that stemmed from?' The mole then goes on to talk about herself, and how she nearly cheated on Kurt, for some reason, for about 2 minutes without even attempting to answer the question. No empathy. Completely focused on herself. Wouldn't surprise me if Kurt's mother were exactly the same. Which would explain Kurt's attraction to Courtney Love in the first instance. There are hints that his mother is a crazy bitch but the doco kind of went in a different direction. I would have liked Kurt's father to have had more to say about Kurt's childhood. I'm disappointed the doco didn't really go into the criticism of Courtney Love at all, but I understand that they needed to be nice to her to get access to the tapes and home videos. I think they left just enough in there though to let the viewer see the sub-text. Or maybe I'm just pre-disposed to thinking she's a mega-bitch, I don't know. Overall, I really enjoyed the doco. Classic three-act tragedy. So sad. Edited July 13, 2015 by toonotl
Alex 35601
I was at a party when I heard he died. Hard to believe it's 21 years ago. It was a big talking point to say the least.

No talking heads, just audio interviews. Same bloke that made Senna.

Haven't seen it yet, but apparently there's footage of her dad showing up with a camera crew when she's trying to rehabilitate*. *not sure if it's a rehab facility or just a holiday. Christmas Tree 4843
Just watched Kingsman. What an absolute hoot. Nicely tongue in cheek but loads of great action scenes. Virtually every scene a winner.

David Kelly 1260
Ted 2. I really enjoyed the first one but the 2nd isn't really in the same class. Still some very funny bits especially with the donations.
ChezGiven 0
I liked the first one too but not many did. It got panned on here, which is a good yardstick as it's one of the first places Kermode checks out.
