Happy Face 29
Come and See An incredible central performance, some top staring. But for me, it's not the classic war film it's touted as. Making the Germans out to be Mad Max type baddies only served to reduce it's impact.

Jimbo 174
The Damned United Highly enjoyable, didn't enjoy it as much as the book but very good none the less, had the feel of a TV drama rather than a movie, but didn't quite capture the spirit of the book. ewerk 30368
The Damned United - Well acted but just missing too much from the book for my liking but I suppose that was inevitable. Just seen Timothy Spall at the train station too, not as fat looking in real life.

Kid Dynamite 7008
Wolverine What's the quality like? Fine, its a workprint. Couple of green screens and a bit of cgi missing but 95% is the finished article. The studio have called in the FBI cos they reckon the leak could cost them millions in lost cinema sales

David Kelly 1224
I can't understand why anyone would want to watch a film like that without the finished effects. I decent copy will be knocking about soon enough. The Lady From Shanghai 8/10. Quality Film Noir despite Welle's terrible accent.
Holden McGroin 6543
I agree. Anyway, I prefer the cinema experience for "blockbuster" movies. Finally going to see the Watchmen tonight. Edited April 3, 2009 by Holden McGroin
David Kelly 1224
I agree. Anyway, I prefer the cinema experience for "blockbuster" movies. Finally going to see the Watchmen tonight. Tbh the only time I get the cinema these days is when we take the bairn to see Bolt or something and I can watch a half decent cam but when the effects aren't there in that type of film it would just spoil it. My mate once had a copy the first Hulk film like that and when he turned in the hulk all you could see was a normal bloke with the outline of a massive hulk around him. What's the point in that? I dont feel guilty downloading films, I go 5 or 6 times a month to the cinema and spend £20 a time As I siad I hardly get to the cinema but I do spend a fortune on dvd's so I don't have any worries about downloading if the copy is ok. And if I like a film I will buy the dvd (not at full HMV price though obviously!).

I dont feel guilty downloading films, I go 5 or 6 times a month to the cinema and spend £20 a time I did, cheers for that. I still think IU'll hold off until a better version comes out to be honest. Missing out on CG stuff and enduring green screens would sufficiently detract from the film for me to fail to enjoy it I'm afraid. I reckon I go to the cinema once a month and while I baulk at paying the £15 down here, it's not so bad when it's Orange Wednesdays or whatever. I tend to wait for a blockbuster though, so perhaps it'd be worth me waiting until this comes out in the cinema... The sickening thing is Imax theatres charge about £13 and the normal screens in Leicester Square charge upwards of £15... just doesn't make much sense. If I go to the cinema and like it then I will download the movie. By the way, I've seen loads of movies that I thought were excellent but only a 1-time-watch. Lazarus 0
Wolverine - X Men Origins http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458525/ Watched the leaked workprint and it wasnt bad. interesting to watch an actual workprint version too with the unfinished dialogue, music, special effects etc.
David Kelly 1224
This Gun For Hire 8/10. Excellent noir and the first pairing of Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake (I think it might have also been the film playing in the backround in Kim Bassingers house in LA Confidential). Niether Ladd or Lake were great actors but they both do a good job in very good film. The Big Steal 7/10. Dropped a mark because some idiot thought it would be a good idea to colourise a noir! Robert Mitchum shines as ever.
