Cloverfield - Yeah, not bad. Id liked it to have fleshed the story out some what more, especially at the end. Watchable, but nowt fantastic.

24hr Party People

Enjoyable but it felt like a Steve Coogan jizz-fest, was more like an episode of Alan Partridge than a drama.

Through A Glass Darkly [ingmar Bergman - 1960]

8/10

more Bergman on the silence of God, and his lack of intervention in lives that are disintegrating before Him. really powerful and beautifully shot. however, one the characters felt a little undeveloped (the young boy) which was frustrating at times given there are only four characters in the movie. although this is only a minor issue in what otherwise is a taut, moving drama. recommended.

Just finished watching it, I like the concept but it certainly left you wanting more in very frustrating way, I was expecting some kind of post-script at the end of the footage, quite good all in all but quite frustrating too.

Son of Rambow

Really enjoyed this, wasn't really sure what to expect, but it was a great feel good film. Shouldn't be compared to Hot Fuzz as it's a much better film imo.

Room 1408

Thought it would be shite but was pleasantly surprised. Nice twist at the end.

Never back down - I really liked it although it was a completely corny film, I liked it mainly because I like Cam Gigandet's character (similar to the one he played in the OC), I've always enjoyed watching mma no doubt this will win the UFC a few fans for a couple of months. Good imo but like I said complete American cheesefest

Watched 'The Road to Perdition' on Film Four last night. It was ok but for me it was just lacking a certain something. Thought it was a bit miscast too.

Cloverfield- well put together and an interesting viewpoint with regards to monster attack, obviously Cloverfield monster is American version of Godzilla but representing terrorism, not Nuclear weaponry. Would have been nice to get some kind of closure on the monster, but I guess that was kind of the point.

AvP Requiem - thoroughly meh.

Like Japan before, America is now dealing only in the subconscious.

I never followed the viral campaign that explained the film (as it couldn't on it's own terms - poor show) but I think the monster is supposed to be Japanese. Not that it has a passport, but it was created by a Japanese corporation. Happy to be corrected though.

The monster is the $ and it was created by a European banking syncicate and is now supported by China as it tears through what is left of the American economy.

I thought the fact that it offered no explanation at all made it all the better for me. If they'd explained it or shown the monster more it would have just ended up like Godzilla.

Well, even without the explanation the whole Monster coming out of the sea, wrecking skyscrapers thing, does hint very slightly of Godzilla.
