Hannah: enjoyed it more than any of the "Bourne" films. 4 out of 5.

Really loved it as well.

Fantastic backdrops and mise-en-scene encompassing the dark forest, grimms fairytales and other wonderments...

Way above its station in ideation.

the western talk put me in the mood to watch one, "acquired" a high def version of the magnificent 7

:D

Class film. The 'original', i.e. The Seven Samurai is worth checking out too.

Watched Superheros. The documentary from HBO about real-life superheros. It was pretty entertaining, but hard not to feel a bit sorry for some of them cos they're basically just friendless loners wandering the streets getting the piss taken out of them.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

An excellent 90 minutes of the mental anguish of a monkey slowly turning against people, spoiled by a ridiculous 20 minute action scene that's the most boring part of the whole film. Well worth it for the good stuff though.

Neds - Quite a disturbing film about a star primary school pupil growing up in the roughest part of Glasgow whose life fucks up and descends into violence. Some odd bits thrown into the mix, particularly the ending but even that i eventually thought was an interesting way to end what is a typical and well known story. If you want gritty British violent drama then its a good engaging watch. Well acted.

Can't take female assassins seriously so I highly doubt its better than the Bourne films which imo are top class. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now.

Not on the same all encompasing level as Bourne. Agreed. She's hot though. :D

Hanna? She looks about 14 you dirty bastard! Started it last night, but stuff got in the way. Gonna watch it later in the week. It started off decent though.

Think it was really well made. Enjoy, and look out for the gawky British bohemian tourists.

I didn't think it was possible to feel let down by a Hollywood blockbuster any more. Certainly better than any that spring to mind from the last 5 years.

I've not seen The Escapist though, so don't know what kind ogf benchmark the director had set.

Don't get me wrong there were some nice toches like when he draws 'the window' in his little cage on the wall. Great idea.

This kind of film really needs an epic landscape if you know what I mean...Too may interiors and close ups...etc...

Needed to get the ape out into the wild somehow...(Just thinking aloud)..

Agreed, absolute pony. Year Zero is clearly off his nut, it was like a fucking comedy.

How dare he even mention the bourne films in the same breath.
