Though you know where this sort of thing is going to end plot-wise even before it begins, it was a thoroughly enjoyable film. Hugely enjoyable on all counts (acting, script, direction) with very few quibbles. Why can't we see more of this ilk being made now days? (Hollywood films that are just well-told, traditionally crafted stories that rely on precious little but a decent script, and non-flashy but well done acting and direction.) Surely it's not that difficult. I'd say that some of Clint Eastwood's or Clooney's films do ... as was The Social Network; but that's just a drop in the mountain of crap that's made now days. BTW, did Jack Warner appear in ALL the really great films from the early 70s to early 80s (sometimes it feels like he did).
