Happy Face 29
Black Snake Moan Samuel L Jackson chains Wednesady Addams to his radiator to cure her nymphomania, after Justin Timberlake has left her to go to war. Supposably based on Silas Marner, I've not read the book, but if it's anything like the film, it's shite. I'm guessing it's not though. A shame because I quite enjoyed Hustle & Flow which was the directors previous film.
luckyluke 2
Pulp Fiction. Still the daddy. I first saw this film when I was about 11 years old. I must have seen it a dozen times at least by now, not that I watch it particularly regularly. Makes you think, how many times will I have seen it by the time I'm 70? Or how many times will I have listened to Definitely Maybe?

Happy Face 29
24 Eyes Winner of the 1955 Golden Globe for best Foreign Language Film, it also beat out Seven Samurai to win the poll of Japanese critics. It charts the life of a rookie teacher and her students from the point she takes on her class of first year students in 1928 to a reunion she has with those remaining in 1946 following the end of the war. An anti-war film without a single shot fired, it's gorgeous, though the singing/crying can get a bit too much.
JawD 99
Watched a couple over the weekend: American Gangster. Was canny, better than I expected though not so different to Blow. Based on actual events apparently. Bucket List - Well I enjoyed it But then with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson you should be getting a half decent flick. Jimbo 175
Watched two lastnight: Superbad: liked it, better than American Pie. Eastern Promise: OK, was expecting more of a twist in the plot, rather an anti-climax.
Jimbo 175
In the hands of the gods the true story of five young British street kids as they go on a journey across the Americas to Argentina in the hope of meeting their hero, Diego Maradona. The kids use their football freestyle skills to busk across countries where handouts don't come easy, impressing the crowds to survive. It's a journey that tests the limits of their friendship, talent and guts as they fight to meet their lifelong hero. Enjoyable !

David Kelly 1260
No Country For Old Men. Thoroughly enjoyed for the most part but I'm not convinced about the ending. If I get my head around that though it could turn out to be one of my favourite films.

Guest alex
Stardust - It was o.k. How did you think it stacked up against the Golden Compass? Haven't seen that. Wor lass asked me to get it off Amazon for her so I thought I might as well watch it too before sending it back. It was just a typical good v evil fairy tale but I thought it was quite well executed. De Niro was good as the cross-dressing pirate captain.

Happy Face 29
Shrek The Third Feared the worst after the first ten minutes, but it turned out to be quite enjoyable. Certainly as good as the second one. Syndromes and a Century I don't think I've ever been so bored. The fumes going up the extractor was lush, but there's no narrative whatsoever. Just a selection of scenes, some repeated almost word for word in the second half. I got it as Sight and Sound loved it (review) and it was nominated for the Golden Lion, perhaps I'm a bit slow and it was way over my head, if anyone else can confirm it's a case of emperors new clothes I'd be grateful.
