Haven't watched that. I'm not really interested in any of that hooligan stuff, be it books or films, but more than that, there is no way I'm taking Frodo seriously as a hoolie.

Frodo does the worst American accent I've heard in a long while

So Elijah Wood is an American who can't do an American accent? :(

yup.

it's painful.

it'd be like you or me "putting on" a Geordie accent.

I dunno, I was watching it and thinking that the accent could have as easily been supplied by an English actor who could feign an American accent.

cringe worthy if you ask me.

same goes for the Tarquin supplying the Norf Lahdahn charcter

King Kong on HD-DVD. Yeah the films shit but the picture quality was outstanding, far more impressive than I thought it was going to be. Its a huge leap over DVD on my size screen. HF, you'll love it.

Got the the 360 HD-DVD add on yesterday. Only bothered ordering one cos I was struggling with ideas for a christmas present from the missus. Only thing is the bitch is taking it of me to wrap up :(

Good reviews for Gibson's latest

Early reviews of Mel Gibson's ancient Mayan epic Apocalypto have praised its "blood-and-guts action", "breathtaking vistas" and "bruising beauty".

Gibson's "remarkable" film - in which he does not appear - offers "hitherto unseen sights of exceptional vividness and power", said Variety.

The Hollywood Reporter described it as "a first-rate epic" while questioning its "over-the-top violence".

Maxim's Pete Hammond, meanwhile, said he was "blown away by the filmmaking".

Featuring a cast of unknowns speaking in the Mayan language Yucatec, Apocalypto views the decline of Mexico's native civilisation.

Its hero is a young native American, played by newcomer Rudy Youngblood, whose village is attacked by ruthless Mayan warriors.

It is Gibson's first outing behind the camera since his controversial 2004 religious epic, The Passion of the Christ.

The film's upcoming release was overshadowed by its director's anti-Semitic outburst during his drink-driving arrest in July.

In an interview this week, however, Gibson said his movie - which opens in the US on 8 December - would "stand on its own".

"The guy knows how to make a heart-pounding movie," agreed the Hollywood Reporter's critic.

All the reviews have highlighted the film's "abundant" blood and gore, which includes graphic scenes of human sacrifice.

Variety, however, said the carnage did not feel "exaggerated or out of line in relation to the material"

Tonight I saw Casino Royale. I've always hated Bond. There was never a best Bond. They were all shite. Daniel Craig isn't shite though. He's very entertaining when he's chasing baddies and tcb. But the reason is, he's just doing Jack Bauer. The big new direction for Bond is to change him from a ladies man to a man's man. The approach of chasing clue after clue without giving the audience any idea what's being chased was 24ry in the extreme. The best bit of action was taken largley from True Lies and that last 45 minutes dragged interminably. Still, the best Bond I've seen. Not terrible, just....average, nothing new at all.

Got home and put on Dave Chappelle's Block Party and that perked me right up. I implore you, one and all to go and rent it, download it, buy it, borrow it, whatever. A magnificent film. It's just a live concert he puts on in a Brooklyn neighbourhood, but it should inspire more disadvantaged blacks than all Spike Lee's films combined. No preachiness, no blame, no excuses, no hate just the message that EVERYONE can do what they want to do with their life, just make the right choices for yourself.

I thought the best action scene was the first one involving the crane.. Which one do you mean?

The very same.

I wasn't that impressed with Casino Royale, but to say that scene was stolen from True Lies is bollocks. It's got a crane in it, that's as far as the similarity goes.

And people walking along cranes and almost falling off cranes and jumping of cranes onto other precariously balanced surfaces.

I'm not getting drawn into this tedious argument, but you're wrong.

Bonds attempts at CPR were PATHETIC though.

to be fair it stole more from District13 (Banlieue13) than True Lies, it used Free-Running (Le Parkour) very well.

I liked Casino Royale. I like the nods it gave all the Bonds from the past, but firmly reassessed it's personailty.

Far more Jason Bourne than the camp fest we had come to expect from the Bond franchise, and is better for it if you ask me.

Friends With Money ... thought it was good, then really got into the story and the characters, and then it ended. Feels like there's a whole final part of the movie they cut off! which is a shame, coz I was starting to think " this is great"... then when it ended was left frustrated... and to be honest rather angry :(
