Guest alex
City of God. Seen it once before at a mates but there were loads of people talking and stuff so I didn't see it properly. Anyway, it's absolutely class. Basically a rites of passage tale about growing up in a slum in Rio told mainly from the point of view of a young would-be photographer who gets caught up in a gangland war. Excellent film that tells it how it is without trying to moralise too much.
sweetleftpeg 0
I loved The Birds but have to say I found Psycho dissapointing. Not shit by any means, just a bit flat. Anyway, I watched The Ringer at the weekend fearing the worst but have to say I quite enjoyed it.

luckyluke 2
The Prestige Brilliant, Marty should have to wait another year for his oscar after this, one of the best films I've seen this year. And Scarlett Johansson would get it till it dropped off.

Guest alex
Don't know why you don't just watch porn, then watch a decent film. Either that or try getting your leg over now and again.

David Kelly 1260
Mr & Mrs Smith (Hitchcock film not that shite with Brad Pitt). Unusually from Hitchcock it's a romantic comedy and not a thriller and tbh I can see why stayed clear of them after this. It's not anywhere near his usual standard and it's only really for massive Hitch fans. Edited November 15, 2006 by David Kelly
Guest alex
Lucky Number Slevin - a bit daft to say the least in parts but I thought it was an enjoyable film and well worth a watch.

Aye, really enjoyed that, despite it having Josh Hartnett in (who I think is shite but was canny in this). I worked it out about half way through, but I enjoy films where you have to think about it, shows it's drawing you in.

Have you calculated mine and Gemmill's weekly average yet. Not that that would constitute being sad or owt. I love the way it really gets to you btw Edited November 15, 2006 by alex

Happy Face 29
Shadow Of a Doubt - Keeping the current board trend for Hitchcock films going. Apparently it's his personal favourite of his own films. It never quite hooked me in completely. Joseph Cotten is always good value, Hume Cronyn is brilliant, the fat stupid women speech is supoib and compared with most films it's top notch, but working my way through the classics as I am at the moment it didn't compete with The Apartment, Strangers on a Train, Touch of Evil or... The Maltese Falcon - I knew very little about this tbh. Watching the oldies, you always have a few classic lines that you've seen and heard hundreds of times already, but apart from the finale that never really happened to me with this. Extraordinary for such a class film, I pissed myself at "When you're slapped, you'll take it and like it." Why have I not heard that before? Excellent stuff.
