I mean, I quite like Danny Boyle films generally, but any plus for that is wiped out by the presence of Ed Sheeran. This film was just poor in both concept and implementation. IMDb agrees (6.8, a point too high imo).

I made the point the owther week/month that film quality is just poor across the board now. I think Rom Coms, CT's favourite genre, probably more so than most.

Watched that latest Blade Runner on the flight back and thought it was tremendous. Pacing was excellent and was visually stunning. Can see why they got the director for Dune so I’m all over them

Yeah. The original is right up there in my favourite all-time films, so I watched 2049 expecting to be disappointed. But I thought it was great.
There’s a miniseries being developed for Prime too. I hope it’s just one series if it happens though

Had a couple of hours to kill tonight before picking the better half up from the airport so I've just been to see The Substance. That was a fucking choice.

Inside Out 2 is on Disney+ now.

A typical underwhelming, pointless sequel. The first film was close to genius imo but this adds the square root of fuck all to it, and just tarnishes the first's standalone brilliance. I suspect Moana 2 will be similar.

Are the days of Pixar blockbusters over, killed by a lack of original ideas, or is it just as my kids have grown up and now they've lost their family appeal?

Inside out 2 was sub par

IF was also disappointing which Is a shame as it was onto something.

Migration was decent (although Illumination not Pixar).

On a different genre - Im off to watch Strange Darling this week. I love a horror.

I thought it was a bit crap too. An easy watch but felt like it just didn’t need to be made. Bit like the abomination that was Toy Story 4

So this. Pixar is just another Disney stooge these days but as a whole, the film and TV industry is fucked. Gone are the days of things being run by creatives, the heads of networks and production companies are nothing more than glorified bean counters now.

And in the world where bean counters rules, there is no risk allowed for new, creative ideas because what if it fails? Or doesn't make a profit? What if the shareholders do get their dividends?

Instead let's reboot Spider Man again or maybe we can cast Robert Downey Jnr as a new character in another Marvel borefest. Let's even make an Australian version of the Office. We love those Ozzie characters here in 'merica, that will do huge and Jeff B will think we are brilliant!!!

Fucking ludicrous.

It's the same if not moreso in videogames. What's worse is its all micro-transactions so you are constantly ripped off and there is no sense of meritocratic achievement. We have the power now for photorealistic real-time graphics and the whole genre is just shite.

Also commercial music, Jesus Christ the shit I have to put up with the wife watching "the Voice". The odd person who is doing something slightly original, using an instrument maybe, and the fuckers don't turn round. The next lass on with a slow whiney yodelling take on a Whitney Houston song and they all press the button. Cunts.

It's What's Inside is something a bit different on Netflix. We both enjoyed it, bit of a head scrambler in parts, but in a good way.
