Guest alex
It might well be a wankfest, but all the women in it were strong individuals who gave the blokes as good as they got. They might have wore skimpy outfits, but there was no gratuitous sex scene that dragged out for 15 minutes and served no purpose but titillation, like you get in the average hollywood actioner. Those scenes offend me more than anything in Sin City. 180473 Why the skimpy outfits? 180474 I'm guessing they wore them in the comic book. I mean graphic novel
Renton 21983
Well I thought it was utterly superb and frankly couldn't give a shit what anyone else thinks! 180463 Go on so, enlighten me as to how it was enjoyable. And take your dick out of your hand when I'm talking to you! 180468 I'm not a film critic like HF so any attempt to articulate why I liked it probably isn't going to be successful. But needless to say I liked it because I found it HUGELY enjoyable. Off the top of my head I would say these things were in its favour: Film noir - one of my favourite genres (don't ask me why because I don't know) Superb graphic effects, the first film to truely bring a comic to life (especially the brutal violence) Great characters accompanied by great acting Brilliant structure that told several interesting, overlapping stories which I genuinely found absorbing and emotional Gorgeous women Infact, there is almost nothing I disliked in the film. Fair enough, you think its puerile, I disagree and anyway, I quite like puerile humour. But to describe it as negatively as you have is frankly ridiculous. Renton 21983
A plot and vaguely believeble acting helped the movies you've mentioned, by the way. 180470 It was film noir DotBum, not meant to be any more believable than Star Wars. Did you miss that?
adios 717
I'm guessing they wore them in the comic book. I mean graphic novel 180476 And why there, because it's for pubescents and smelly students (lest we forget Fish)? I can't even recall a sex scene in any of the examples HF cites, or much generally, to state that's more offensive than Sin City is rediculous in the extreme. I'm now picturing HF as a man who divides his time equally between masturbating over Big Brother, comic books and his guide to movie masturbation tbh. Renton 21983
I can't believe anyone would dislike a film because it had attractive women in in skimpy outfits. Especially someone who frequents a message board where there is porn posted on a daily basis! Besides, weren't those hoes empowered, the way they took the perv cop out? I saw it in the cinema with my wife and she like it too, despite this type of film not usually being her cup of tea. About the acting and characters, yes, they were superb - Willis, O'Rourke etc. You've got to take it in the context of who they were supposed to be though, which is something you seem to be missing. It was a comic book - fair enough if that's not your thing, but that's a bit like me slagging of Eminem because I don't like hip hop, or something. I thought the film was one of the most cringeworthy things I'd ever seen, technical accomplishment didn't change that. Given how utterly shite nearly every aspect of the film was I have to assume you're being blinded by something. Given that HF has already said he likes one of the most loathsome characters on this planet, and that he finds her attractive I find it a lot easier to dump you two in the perv bin. Nice easy pidgeon-holing.

Which is fine.

David Kelly 1260
I think it's the fact that I love Film Noir so much that spoiled it for me. I was expecting something like The Big Sleep or Maltese Falcon both of which it didn't bare in real comparisson to for me. Plus I did watch it on a pirate dvd so that probably lessened the visual impact somewhat. I'll have to give it another go. Oh and Paycheck was ok but not one of the better Phillip K Dick translations. Thurman was a complete waste in it. Any amount of unknown actresses could have played that poor excuse for a role. Guest alex
I've googled it now - you mean Nikki, right? From the very few bits I've seen she seems like a spoilt 3 year old but I'm guessing it's an act. My sis likes her though, for the 'entertainment value' apparently. I'm more of a 'Love Island' fan tbh. Have you been on the poteen today btw?
