Howay 12496
You've probably seen them but, if not, other Shane Meadows' films like A Room For Romeo Brass and Dead Man's Shoes are well worth checking out A Room for Romeo Brass is weird as fuck, it seems quite funny at first but has some pretty dark stuff in it. Been a while since I saw it. Dead Man's Shoes is brilliant, the clip of that old Citroen they drive about in man "Just mooching about" .

I always forget that the lad who plays Paddy Considine's brother is the lad out of rock'n'rolla, he plays a good part in it too.

I went to Metacritic to obtain the universal acclaim rating I thought it surely had so I could be a prick about this, but I was dumbfounded that it's only got 52% The Hollywood Reporter - Ray Bennett The film is filled with deeply unpleasant and stupid people whose vapid speech is largely incomprehensible due to thick regional accents. That Yojimbo is shite! They talk weird!
Howay 12496
I went to Metacritic to obtain the universal acclaim rating I thought it surely had so I could be a prick about this, but I was dumbfounded that it's only got 52% The Hollywood Reporter - Ray Bennett The film is filled with deeply unpleasant and stupid people whose vapid speech is largely incomprehensible due to thick regional accents. That Yojimbo is shite! They talk weird! It was just an assumption I had due to the low amount of people I know who had actually watched it, actually shocked to hear the rating is that low. As you say that's a ridiculous review also isn't the point of the movie that the people in it are 'deeply unpleasant and stupid'? I remember hearing that the idea came from Meadows and Considine remembering dick heads from the areas they grew up getting away with all sorts of horrible shit and just carrying on their lives so they wanted to make a story where those people finally saw some repercussions. Ayatollah Hermione 14086
As far as British films go, I love Tyrannosaur. Bit grim, like. As all of the best British films are.
David Kelly 1260
Kong Skull Island. Really surprised at how much I liked this. I've always found the whole concept of King Kong a bit stupid and never really liked any of the previous films. But this played like Journey To The Centre Of The Earth or any number of old Doug McClure films and I found it great fun.
David Kelly 1260
Your Fathers Murder: A Letter To Zachary. Documentary by the best friend of a murdered man intended to be a film for his son who wasn't born at the time of his death. It's really well done and one of the saddest things I've seen in ages. In that sense it probably wasn't the best thing to watch on a come down from Saturday but I loved it anyway. Jiro Dreams Of Sushi. Surprisingly interesting documentary about a master chef who has the first 3 star sushi restaurant. I thought there might have been more to it given how highly it's rated but there's nothing more than his dedication to his craft. Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room. Staggering that they managed to get away with what they did for so long without anyone asking why.

The Fish 10975
Logan - A bit disappointed really, would probably score it around where parky did but after hearing about how great it is from elsewhere it didn't stand up to the hype. Excellent performances from Jackman, Stewart and the kid but the fighting got boring after the first couple, the villains were dull, southern guy, exposition man(who threatened to be interesting for about 10 seconds at one point) and the symbolic muscle. Didn't care about any of them in the slightest by the end of it. How early on did everyone else know exactly what would happen to that nice family with the horses and stuff? For me it was solid, but not as good as the hype. Made me think that hype was early reviewers who were able to go into the story with low expectations (based on previous movies). Wish they'd been able to have this Logan character in all the movies. Same is true for Xavier. Not the gore or the rude words, just the more fleshed out characters. Hope he pops up in Deadpool sequels, which in this time-hopping reality would be easily possible. Because infuriating + furious = comedy conveyor belt. Merchant was shit and clunky, fwiw. As soon as she invited them back to say thank you. What did you think of using essentially the same bad-guy (a clone) from the Wolverine Origins movie? I get that he's facing up to his baleful past (his younger self) and the fight scenes were...fine, but I just struggle to give a fuck whenever clones are involved.
