I was looking at the guardian music reviews last week and was amused that literally everything was 3 or 4 stars.

They've gone out on a limb this week and started the backlash on Ed Sheerhan with a 2 star review

Trend setters.

910 comments below the line and counting. Their reviews tend to get 5-10, tops. Job done. :D

Wicker Man and Ladykillers are really good films.

Clockwork Orange is not a British film or it would have been in my list. ;)

Written and Dir by Kubrick (American) Warner Bros. (American). The screenplay diverges from the book as well.

The weird thing is that Kubrick I always felt had a very English quality about him and lived in the UK a lot.

I thought it was a British production given it was shot on location in England and stared British actors.

Ok, I'll swap it for get carter.

Actually, no. Naked

I really like Naked, but I have trouble going back to it.

Lawrence or Kwai I can still put them on even though I've seen them loads of times...Same with Life of Brain or Withnail...I haven't tired of them. There is a lot of air and space in these films the viewer can move into (we take up our old positions we remember from previous viewings). Find Naked a bit too disconnected and the intense melancholy too distancing.

It's classic British realism and clearly a standout Leigh film.

You've probably seen them but, if not, other Shane Meadows' films like A Room For Romeo Brass and Dead Man's Shoes are well worth checking out
