Happy Face 29
I was looking at the guardian music reviews last week and was amused that literally everything was 3 or 4 stars. They've gone out on a limb this week and started the backlash on Ed Sheerhan with a 2 star review https://www.theguardian.com/music+tone/albumreview Trend setters. Clockwork Orange is not a British film or it would have been in my list. Written and Dir by Kubrick (American) Warner Bros. (American). The screenplay diverges from the book as well. The weird thing is that Kubrick I always felt had a very English quality about him and lived in the UK a lot. Dr Gloom 22191
I thought it was a British production given it was shot on location in England and stared British actors. Ok, I'll swap it for get carter. Actually, no. Naked Maggie!
Park Life 71
I really like Naked, but I have trouble going back to it. Lawrence or Kwai I can still put them on even though I've seen them loads of times...Same with Life of Brain or Withnail...I haven't tired of them. There is a lot of air and space in these films the viewer can move into (we take up our old positions we remember from previous viewings). Find Naked a bit too disconnected and the intense melancholy too distancing. It's classic British realism and clearly a standout Leigh film. https://www.theguardian.com/film/filmblog/2008/feb/20/isnakedmodernbritainsmost
