The Room started off incredibly badly but ended up one of the most entertaining films I've seen in years. The Room should not be mistaken for Room. Very different films in almost every way.

The Big Short. A funny take on a story that is, at times, blood boiling. 8/10

Really enjoyed it, but it's quite complicated. It's all to do with a random selection of blokes knowing that the 2007/2008 recession was going to be like Hiroshima to the housing market in particular and some people make UNBELIEVABLE amounts of money from it. When it's all over though many of them feel sad because 6m poor cunts in America ended up with no house. Really enjoyable show, but not for the 5 GCSE, brain dead accountant, work for Virgin Money types of character.

The irony is the protagonists - even Steve Carrel's righteous hedge fund manager with his wavering moral compass - all profited massively out of the meltdown of the collapse of the global financial system. So they saw it coming and knew how much industrial scale fraud was going on but all they did was make money with that knowledge.

Though tbf, even the hacks refused to break the story. That scene with the journal journalist who wouldn't run the story for fear of upsetting his wall st contacts was infuriating.

Is there anyone on here matching that description? Best not bother with this film, then.

No its a good show, but you need to have your intelligent head on to fully understand what they're getting emotional about. Some total heed the baal, who is so down to earth, walked away with $2.69 Billion after being told he was a complete idiot. It's a good show but you really have to concentrate all the way through which is obviously difficult for me.

Dope. Average comedy drama with a good soundtrack and some mint birds.

The Seven Five. Excellent documentary about corrupt cops in the 75th precinct in New York. The main guy must be the worst police officer ever but I found it difficult to dislike him.

Locke. Been meening to watch this for ages but never got round to it. Just Tom Hardy (actually in understandable mode) in a car having various phone conversations. Had me gripped throughout.

Bone Tomahawk. Second western of the year for Kurt Russell and I'm not sure which one I like more. Like the Hatefull Eight it takes a while to get going but once they catch up with the canabalistic native americans it really kicks off.

Joy - Enjoyed it, thought the style was good, the story engaging and J-Law is ridiculously fit (and good).

American Hustle - Hysterical, loved it, been on the wish list for ages.

Tomorrowland - An inexplicably shit kids film, all i can say in my defence was that the trailer was deceptive.

I watched the latter this weekend as it happens. Quite liked the vision of utopia but otherwise agree, the plot just made no sense and the ending was terrible. Plot wise, it reminded me of the type of shite Dr Who has become. Edited by Renton

The Good Dinosaur

Agree with all the reviews, despite nice water, woods and mountains it's a real turkey. Pixar scraping the sub-standard barrel Dreamworks & Blue Sky wouldn't even get away with.

One class bit was really bizarre and came straight out of Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. Didn't fit at all and aimed squarely at adults rather than kids and the only laugh the film got from me.

My two and a half year old was devastated that the dinosaur's dad didn't come back mind. Spent the last ten minutes saying "he'll go home to his mammy and daddy" and I kept preparing him that daddy might not be home. Might stick in his mind as an early emotional formative memory in years to come, but not much more would stick in the mind.

It is truly just for kids, not one bit of grown up enjoyment at all.

Deliver Us From Evil. Documentary about an Irish Catholic priest who molested children in California for 30 years and just got moved about and sent to counciling by his Bishop who was up for being made a Cardinal. It really is terrifying to see how the church just covered it up to save their own necks and really quite distressing to see what impact it had on the children and their families years later. It's also very interesting to see the priest himself who is now back in Ireland and free to walk through parks past children playing whilst openly admitting his attraction and how it grows the less clothes children have on. He's clearly a very sick man who would definitely do it again should he get the chance. It's a great companion to Spotlight showing a similar story from different sides.
