I'd add that I don't hate Gem for the Mindy Project as I like the lass but just don't think it's that good. I do however think he should be shot with shit for recommending that Girls.

Whoa whoa whoa, look at the climbdowns and u-turns! It's tax credit cuts all over again.

Have the courage of your convictions, lads. I like Mindy and Girls because I know funny. You like the Big Bang Theory and Friends, because you don't.

That's ok. Life would be better if you were me, but don't be ashamed to be you.

Big bang theory is shit as is the Mindy show.

(I've never seen either and have no idea what they're about and who is in them but I'm sure I'll be right).

You're half right, which is better than some people who've watched both shows are doing.

BBT is ok. As NJS said it's on far too much (I heard the announcer on E4 say before an episode the other week that it was the hundred and something time they'd shown it which is pathetic). It's very easy watching but in no way stands up against top sitcoms (I've been re watching Seinfeld recently which is clearly the best sitcom ever to come out of America).

I've never seen the Mindie Project but she's annyoying as fuck, unattractive and Gemmil suggested it so I have no reason to try and watch it.

I think when I watched Girls I asked if you were sure it was a comedy because I couldn't see how it was even played for laughs in any way. An ugly bird getting her tits out does not strike me as cutting edge feminism either.

Can't even spell Mindy. Unbelievable.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is also much better than Seinfeld btw.

She/you don't deserve the respect of me spelling her name correctly.

I've never been able to get properly into Curb which is surprising given the similarities to Seinfeld. The Larry Sanders Show is another top American sitcom.

Gemmill hasn't seen peak Simpsons so his undisputed taste in comedy needs to take a back seat to mine.

Did you watch that Jeselnik stand-up btw. This is the acid test. Where I judge you very poorly if you didn't like it.

I'll watch it sometimes. It works in a sort of Friends or Everybody Loves Raymond way. It's very very average but it's on constantly so it has familarity going for it. That and Penny who I'd love to do all kinds of depraved things to.

its merits beautifully summed up

you lost a lot of comedy critic credibility when you recommended that tripe

See, this is where you let yourself down terribly. I mean, I really feel bad for you.

he was about as funny as my last shit.

i don't want to go into too much detail but we're talking tears of pain, not laughter tears
