strawb 4251
Using public contracts to pay shareholders massive dividends. A lot of the work should have been given to local SME’s who can mobilise and deliver the work with smaller overheads.
PaddockLad 17262
I think the banks are in a large way to blame. They lent money for new goverment contracts expecting the taxpayer to back them up. Not fuckin this time, although a lot of the vital services Carillion (used to be Tarmac as recently as the 90s) will be picked up by us e.g. hospital maintenance, school dinners etc. I happen to work for one of their major competitors on an nhs contract and it could end up being good for our lot...
