And Paul Warhurst for that matter who played in the very same Blackburn side as Tim Sherwood. What an utter tit! I’d also say that the consensus on this board in mid-January was relegation beckoned. Even fish was pessimistic at that point. Gemmill was very much the minority voice. Makes the turnaround all the more impressive. We have been a completely different team since February Prove it.

Craig 6682
At the time (wasn't posting on here) I said we'd almost certainly buy our way out of the danger zone in January. The reality is I don't think we did. Sure, we made a few decent additions but the big difference has been the output of some of those players who were here under Bruce. Krafth, Fraser & Joelinton in particular. The MSM media love to focus in on the fact we spent £90m in January, but they're conveniently missing the context - we lost Wilson and Trippier to long term injuries and Wood hasn't fired on all cylinders from a goalscoring perspective. Therefore the narrative that we bought our way out of relegation isn't accurate. And I'm delighted to have been proven wrong on that detail. Shows what a fucking great coach we have in Howe. How many will raise their hand and admit they got it wrong where he was concerned?

Burn might’ve been a better fit than our main CB targets. Especially for a relegation battle. I likened it to SBR wanting Jeffers and Zenden but getting Bellamy and Robert instead. You could say the same with Howe perhaps not being the first name in the owners’ list

You could say the same with Howe perhaps not being the first name in the owners’ list totally. it feels like the owners stumbled across the perfect manager at the right time, despite being our second choice. he was the right pick to keep us up and could identify the players needed to survive this season - without the help of a full time DoF. the work howe did picking the likes of targett and burn was crucial. if emery had led the recruitment team, would he have chosen so well after failing to get the likes of digne and bottman? i confess i wasn't sure about howe when he came in. it felt like a bit of a punt, but i absolutely love everything about the bloke and i hope he's here for 5+ years

Right, I was 50/50 in November, before the we'd signed anyone in the winter window and when the table looked like this; Rock bottom, no wins, worst defensive record in the league, 3pts off 19th, 7pts off safety. You were 70/30 in favour of relegation after we'd signed Trippier and Wood and had actually won a game and the table looked like this; 19th, 3 pts off safety. I don't disagree with any of that. However, we are not the same. Even when we were 20th in the league without a win, I was still only 50/50. What was Gemmil, at that point? Silent, I'll bet.
