Part of their takeover plan will obviously be to have PL football broadcast in Saudi Arabia and they’re going to want to be the ones presenting it rather than Qatar. This. It would make no business sense for the PL to block this on these piracy grounds. Firstly it’s a really dicy legal stance as it’s merely an accusation, and secondly if they really did have control over it and were to be blocked then you can be sure they would double down on any effort. Now of course the Premier League are involved god know how many people have eyes and ears on the matter and will be leaking out bits and bobs. I agree that’s potentially the case. I think I’d be more worried if it was a more reputable newspaper leading with this than the Sun. Like I mention in my post above I feel it’s a bit suspect legally to block the deal on was are simply assumptions and suspicions.

PaddockLad 17286
I’m still of the opinion that the PL would have to change the criteria of the tests whilst they are carrying them out for them to knock it back. They might well do that due to the piracy issue, because that effects all clubs and the pressure will undoubtedly be coming from the other 19 clubs to sort it
Isegrim 9803
If they were told a decision could be made midweek then I doubt there were any serious issues if no red flag had been raised until then because all issues were obvious when they did start the test. The waiting is killing me nevertheless.
Kid Dynamite 7034
That Sun article is a regurgitation of the Times article today, which itself is based on the simple fact that 2 months ago the Premier League mentioned in a report that the Saudi’s pirate their games Zero new information in there to worry about Edited April 30, 2020 by Kid Dynamite

Potentially aye, the article seems to be more based on a document from a few months back rather than them saying it’s a source passing new info to them (now I’ve actually given them their click). Of course nothing is off the table I was just meaning I’m personally not going to worry about The Sun reading something into a document from a few months ago. I think in general it would be a hard legal argument for the PL to make to block the fund from buying a club on the grounds that they are suspicious there’s a link between the country and a piracy network within the country. If the connection had been proven in a court I would be more worried - as seemingly they have used foreign court rulings in the past (in the case of Cellinio who bought Leeds he was initially blocked due to a foreign court case but even he overturned the PL ruling), but as they beat BeIN in the French case I’m not sure how they would be able to sustain a block on an assumption where the potential buyer had successfully fought a suit over the same issue.

Dougle 3338
On a lighter note, being bored out me skull and having heard that fuck off massive RAF plane that went over this morning I had Flight Tracker on to see what was occurring. I noticed a private jet took off from Newcastle airport (BTW we’re talking 4 flights in or out per week at the moment). This private plane landed at Magdeburg Airport in Germany, a tiny wee place just up the road from Leipzig. Took off 35 mins later and returned to the UK. Air Taxi for Julian Nagelsmann perhaps…. Howay 12496
Could you imagine that turnaround. The press licking their lips that the deal may not happen, to then end up with the deal done and Nagelsmann in as manager. I see Carragher was throwing his “they have to give Bruce a chance” piece out today, I assume when Klopp leaves he’ll be excited for Bruce to get a chance there

Secondly I wouldn't be surprised at all if the premier have politely made it clear that they want the Saudis to sort their piracy issue if they want to be cleared. And lastly I highly doubt the Sun knows any more than us, or have actually got an inside track that's explicitly told them that the premier are considering blocking it. As has been said it's very unlikely that Staveley, the Saudi's etc didn't take the piracy issue into consideration before starting this process, let alone giving Ashley 17million quid. Firstly, new here. Hello Secondly, I dont think this has anything to do with piracy, or even to do with human rights. No one in this country complains about any other Saudi investment into other areas of the UK, including the NHS, armed forces, other football clubs (Incl Utd). The only thing they are bothered about is the impact to the history clubs. It's the only thing. City have had it for years now and it only really started when Pep came and started dominating - Nothing before that, no expose's or in depth reports about human rights, it only mattered from 2016 onwards. But, at the same time a curious thing started to happen, a couple of those reporters "exposing" human rights issues suddenly started tweeting positive news articles about LFC at exactly the same time. I expect you to call me conspiracy theorist etc so go for it, but all that shite is already starting to happen to Newcastle, and it annoys me so much that these little shit reportersw with big followings get to spout rubbish without anyone holding them to account. It's been propaganda tbh

It's been propaganda tbh To entertain your theory for a second, because I can't say I've seen evidence of what you're saying about Liverpool, but then I haven't really looked, it could be a connection between Liverpool and Socialism. Liverpool as a city is obviously a Labour stronghold and has some radical left wing traditions. That Liverpool is still a Socialist club a la Shankly's era is fucking ludicrous, but some of their fans still like to believe so. Journalists are also by in large at least left wing if not far left, so they might think they are making some political point by amplifying Liverpool, at the same time they are criticising Newcastle's prospective owners. Although that Socialists would presumably think their tradition isn't also dripping in blood is beyond delusional. Apologies for getting political in this thread, but the response called for it

Dougle 3338
Perhaps the PL's idea is to stall until after PCP's exclusivity runs out mid-May and then, knowing fat man will go for a higher bidder, this strange american chap with no money will broker a deal based on a loan from Mike himself. Imagine that?

rogerbarton 24
The S*n cover the story of the blacklist (2+ months out of date). They come to the headline. Needs to be clickbaity. Can't say 'Premier League added people from the same country as some people involved in Newcastle takeover to a blacklist two months ago'. The headline they came up with isn't backed up by anything in the article. Story over As Hope states, this beoutQ service doesn't even exist anymore! The PL would really need solid grounds to block this, and I can't see any solid evidence.
