We’ve called them cunts with regards to the World Cup and the issue of rights of migrant workers building the infrastructure but I’ve personally never let that cloud the judgment on your club. AH just posted a Morrisey track on another thread with the disclaimer that the man is a wanker. It’s very possible to like his music while detesting the man just as it’s possible to support the club while being abhorred at the owner’s country’s human rights record and military interventions. First off our owners are not Qatari I am not sure you would make the same mistake if our owner was say American. Also would be interested to know in what context you discussed our owners human rights record the world cup migrant workers rights etc that you got wrong. Was it when we played you for example in which case in what way is it relevant ? Or was it in some big ethical philosophical political debate in which case fair enough

Some of us will be wondering what you have been saying about our take over. Are you being consistent about Middle Eastern human rights and spending huge sums ? In my view the more competition the better it is for me as spectator I had a look at your take over topic and I think you are right to expect huge investment in both the club and Newcastle its self but do not expect it to be straight forward. First off whilst FFP is going to be relaxed due to the Corona virus but in a very minor way and if City are successful at CAS or in court it could be altered or scrapped. You are also helped by the change to the rules around new owners but. We got in ahead of the start of the rules and some would claim we fiddled the figures with UEA sponsorship money (I can explain later why this is not really the case and why City will win at CAS or in court and should never have been punished first time round let alone second) (Can Saudi Arabia do the same ?) Expect to probably over pay for a lot of players who are better than what you have but not amazing and then have to get rid of them for not very much money as you move up the league remember Wayne Bridge etc at city in the early days. On the investment in Newcastle area do not expect it to be that quick City have been slow to expand the ground the Academy took a while to be built compulsory purchase of United fans company. There is still a huge amount of land to develop New Arena finally proposed but still a lot left to put forward on site of the former proposed super casino and I think elsewhere. in the city I have read that the owner has something like 300 - 400 acres of land but the land everyone talks about is the academy 80 acres plus immediately round the ground a lot will depends on what the owners want and how much land is available more land more ambitious much much slower. I am sure our owner could have had thousands of flats built round the ground in no time but he wants some sort of Disneyland entertainment education sports thing and there is public transport to consider. Do not expect any early criticism of spending or human rights to go away at least not anytime soon Nice post and thanks, but i doubt you will be so nice when we take Kevin de Bruyne and others off you Edited April 26, 2020 by Tdansmith

Miguel Delaney is the prime example of a flip flopper on the issue. I genuinely don’t think too many on here had strong feelings about the issue. No one particularly cares where the money comes from as long as we’re seeing some form of investment and plan to move the club forward.
Rayvin 5223
I can recall saying something along the lines of struggling to see Man City's success in the same way I see Man United or Liverpool's, basically because they had a blank cheque to buy worldbeaters rather than a good mix of homegrown and improved players, with a few stars sprinkled in (which I appreciate is a very charitable way of looking at Man Utd of more recent years, but was more true in years gone by). City beating Watford 5-0 in the FA Cup final was a depressing moment IMO, made me wonder what the point in anyone else even trying was. I have similar concerns about us if this goes through - maybe I'll find that it's the same, and I'll look on City differently as a result as well, I don't know. Certainly never struggled with the human rights aspect though, despite being a staunch believer in such things.

thebrokendoll 9244
@williamrickson I'm 57, I was 6 when we won the fairs Cup in '69, I only have very faint recollections of it. other than a few years idolising supermac as a kid, the keegan promotion season in the mid 80s and the keegan and robson managerial years it's been a pretty rough ride for half a century. none more so than the last 13 years under the ownership of the hideous fat cunt from sportsdirect. I'd given up hope of ever seeing my club winning anything in the time I have left and who knows it might still be too late? what I do know is if these saudi's along with stavely and the reubin brothers make the possibility of seeing us lift some silverware come to fruition I'd happily sell me soul to the devil and I'm not really bothered how unethical that makes me. as regards yourselves and the mansours... about the only consideration I've given it is I wished to fuck they'd bought us instead back in '08 and I'd have been equally as morally bankrupt than as I am now in my happiness at seeing the back of a parasite whose sucked the soul out of nufc. To be honest it hasn't been talked about extensively on here until now (middle eastern ownership) as we've had more than our fair share of ownership problems much more front of mind. As far as Man City go we've been dudded by referees in matches against you guys in fairly recent times (Habib Beye being sent off comes to mind immediately) so I've enjoyed some of our more recent unexpected good results against you. Since you became the richest club in the country I've been happy for you to win because it nails home in a patent way that at the end of the day it's all about money. If you spend enough of it, you will become the best. Manchester United and Liverpool will try to make out that they don't spend like Man City and that there is some intrinsic power in the club that elevates them above others, but the truth once again is money and winning. Players want to be well paid (this is a big part of the motivation for wanting to play at a champion's league club, not just the prestige of the competition) and they want to win. So if this all goes through we will become a much more appealing destination for a higher calibre of player which could potentially lead to the return of champion's league football. TLDR; money has ruined the game, regardless of where it comes from. But, having suffered under Ashley's ham fisted tight arsed operations for an extended period I'm looking forward to the potential for us to show real ambition.
Isegrim 9784
Ashley’s plane is on its way back from Florida. I obviously don’t know if the fat cunt is on board and if it does have anything to do with the takeover.

Re: Man City the ownership definitely didn’t bother me at all. I was a bit envious but that’s all. At the time the do-called elite needed a shake up and it did just that. I’ve probably thought about the human rights side of things much more for our proposed take over than other ones from the same part of the world. I think a lot of us on here have some reservations but are also finding the hypocrisy annoying and funny in equal measure. Mainly from the press. From the mackems it’s just funny. I.e. it’s ok for the Saudis to be a strategic ally we sell arms to. It was ok for Sheffield Utd. It was ok for Anthony Joshua and it was going to be fine for Man Utd etc

I’m of the same thoughts as Alex, that I’ve thought about the human rights issues far more with regard to our takeover, I can’t really think of discussing the background of the Abu Dhabi lot. I don’t view football as some exception, if they have the ability to freely invest elsewhere then investing in football shouldn’t be off limits. I find it hilarious that we’re now hearing people calling us a ‘community club’ and that this ruins that, did they miss the prior 13 years of some arrogant fat carpet bagger just stomping all over each and every tradition, legend, or hope for the club? They can all do one as far as I’m concerned. Edited April 26, 2020 by Howay 3
Alex 35095
Aye, community clubs largely died out a long time ago but m, fuck me, the last 13 years has seen us become just about as removed from being that as it’s possible to be
