She has helped facilitate multi-billion pound investments in the past. She isn't a small player. She isn't going to gain anything in publicity from all this.

Remember Gloom's theory about how she's doing this to demonstrate that she won't just keeping upping her offer for Liverpool though...

They bought Man City on the cheap and were laughed out of the room at Anfield. They might have a few billion but it clearly isn't all earmarked for football looking at their failed bids in other areas. Funds are continually looking to up the perception of their footprint as there literally are hundreds out there with many billions to spend. Positioning is everything as they are constantly trying to attract more money and the fund game competition is fierce. Buying into the PL automatically gains many column inches because of its world wide reach. The publicity would have done them no harm - unless they fail of course. In saying that she would be better than the fat cunt we have in place as there would be a desire to grow our business with a long term outlook.

PCP didn't buy Man City. Nor did they buy into Barclays when they facilitated a ÂŁ7bn investment into the bank. I'm still not convinced that PCP are the end purchasers here. They can't expect any sort of dividend from the club and we're not at a level where we'd be a trophy purchase. None of it makes sense from a business perspective. She didn't necessarily walk away from Liverpool because she (or her backer) didn't have the money but because it's incredibly overpriced. We represent much better value, even at Ashley's asking price.

According to this nothing if anything will happen until the end of the season

Reading over on N.O. there's an article on the back page of todays  Times saying Stavely's given Ashley 2 weeks to accept a £250 million bid

Sky Sports: Seven days to improve bid?

Sky Sports are claiming that Amanda Staveley has SEVEN days to improve her current bid of ÂŁ250 million for the club.

Amanda Staveley’s present £250m offer to buy Newcastle needs to make significant progress in the next seven working days if it is to stand a chance of succeeding, Sky Sports News understands.

Sources close to the deal have told Sky Sports News that reports Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has been given a two-week deadline to accept PCP Capital Partners’ offer are inaccurate.

Sky Sports News understands any agreement this week would not be concluded until the second or third week of January at the earliest, partly because any deal needs Premier League ratification.

hmmm. i can't believe she isn't going to increase her bid ... if she's serious about buying the club. she's so far from ashley's valuation, she has to surely try to meet him a bit closer in the middle

Hoping that she's trying to bring him down into a more reasonable, negotiable area.

The club's debt to Ashley is ÂŁ180m or something right? So she's basically offered him ÂŁ70m for the club.

I mean... I don't want to say that's derisory, but it really looks it. You'd think the full weight of the playing staff in terms of market value would exceed ÂŁ70m.

I think £250 million is a fair offer cosidering he paid that including the loan for the club so essentialy he's getting his money back. Factor in a  decade of free advertising for SD our current form & league postion, the value of the squad & the inevitable HMRC fine.i think it might be time to take the money & run

He bought us for ÂŁ134m and our debt to him is ÂŁ127m. He should be over the moon to get any sort of profit from us.

My bad. In which case the offer seems more fair.

Especially when you consider the status of the club nowadays. Ashley bought a club that had qualified for Europe in 5 out of the previous 6 seasons. We've qualified once since he took over. We're a much weakened club.

If we're to trust these valuations & bids we've no idea except what we've read then there's a massive gap of between ÂŁ130 to ÂŁ150 million even if Stavely offers a bit more it'll be still well short of Ashleys alleged valuation of the club.

I think his £400/380 is well over valued for the state the clubs in now. The value of the playing squad must be buttons compared to other teams
