LooneyToony 41
So on Tuesday morning, I should be getting a skid of sod to put down for a new lawn in an area that went bare. Any tips, tricks or things I should look out for as I do this job myself?

ewerk 30616
No idea. Keep it moist? I got my lawn scarified and aerated last week. Looks like absolute shit for now but will pay off in the long run. Once you have it done it pays to get the likes of Greenthumb out to treat a few times a year. It made a huge difference to mine. If you want it to take properly you need to do plenty of prep. -Rake the soil finely and remove any stones. -Get it as even/level as possible. -Get some planks of wood to stand on otherwise you will have sunken footprints all over. -Butt the edges in together because it will shrink slightly -Water it well, every day for a fortnight after it's laid
strawb 4259
A pallet of turf? Lay it like bricks so they overlap, otherwise what KD said. Put some decent soil down under the turf before you lay it too.

If so, any surprises? Things that you wished you knew then that you know now?

I've only got a little lawn at the front cos most of its paved but I've done the back too without issue
LooneyToony 41
That is some really nice work, Kid Dynamite. I like the choice of brick you put down. Some put the brick close to the grass standing straight up as edging, but I prefer it flat so the lawnmower doesn't hit anything. I think next year I'm going to lay down some brick edging flat around my flower beds.
