It was an indirect free kick. If Ospina doesn't touch it then the goal doesn't stand. He should've just watched it sail by him.

Why was the free kick awarded? As I best understand it, indirect free kicks are awarded for technical infringements rather than 'on the ball' type offences. Correct me if I've missed something.

Just catching up. So the US are out after losing to bottom side Trinidad & Tobago - who had nothing to play for. Yet they still only crashed out entirely because Panama beat Costa Rica via a phantom goal. Panama make it for their first World Cup ever!

It's that tough USA haven't failed to qualify since 1986 (albeit they were hosts in '94). They get 3 1/2 places and that 4th placed team plays the 5th best Asian team. Basically they had to finish above Panama (ranked 60th in the world) to qualify automatically (or ahead of Honduras - 74th - to get into the playoffs). Sounds like he was getting his excuses ready to be honest. Also the bloke's an ex-goalie who never played (and has never coached / managed a side) oustide the USA. Probably think European sides are shit based on washed up stars going to play in their poxy pub league.

 It’s more getting rid of Klinnsmann for Bruce Arena that I don’t get. Even if they had to chuck Klinnsmann (they didn’t) surely they could have got better than going back to Arena, the bloke is a fucking joke.
