He's defo worth keeping in the squad, but he's having a purple patch if we're being honest. I've seen him fuck up enough counter attacks over the last 7 seasons that it's going to take more than 3 good games to convince me he's suddenly turned into a world beater

Miggy and Murphy are both fine to make up the numbers but we’ve had those two competing for RW since Rafa was in charge. That needs to change. A couple of years ago I would have said keep Miggy but his time is up. Murphy hasn’t turned into a first team player overnight. We still need to urgently upgrade that position if we’re serious about competing for top 4 every year

Aye it's 100% a purple patch for Murphy. That said, he has more purple patches than most of the Ashley crop, loves the club, and seems a great character to have around.

Very important, team seems much more together at the moment

I remember Keegan saying he liked to build partnerships around the pitch, pairs of players who link well. At the moment him and Isak seem to be dovetailing nicely.

Yes it's against "lesser teams" but the very complaint everybody was making was that we only turn up against the big teams

For my money most important thing that needs fixing in the squad is cover for Isak. If he's out we've got nobody

An “upgrade” means what though? More consistent with the same skill level? For the money we’re likely to have available I’m suggesting that such a  first team ready player isn’t out there…

we’ve been heavily linked with this bakayoko kid for £25m. who knows if he can adapt to the PL but the fee sounds like the sort we might be prepared to spend if we can get rid of Miggy for about £10m

Well that’s the point. Bakayoko is a risk, Jarrod Bowen is the type of player we need. That’s an upgrade. We’re not getting a player that’s likely to hit the ground running. I suppose am saying we need to relax our expectations for next month. Howe might concentrate on the centre back we need, and maybe a back up striker? ..

His "purple patch" last season made him the top chance creator in our whole team (those playing over 1200 mins)

Pacey RCB remains #1 priority. RW #2

I don’t think we can afford proven premier league players, which is why I found the chase of Guehi very strange given the fees mooted.

We have shown before when signing the likes of Bruno, Botman, Gordon - even Isak, which at £60m for a striker is decent value, that there was a value to be found betting on potential instead of the finished article, which is why I think bakayoko is more realistic than Bowen. He already has tons of caps and v impressive goal contributions data. But he hasn’t played in the PL so you get him for 30-40m less.

That’s the end of the market we’re forced to operate in because of psr. Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t look to upgrade RW or CB. We just need to go back to boxing clever - and taking a bit of a punt in the process. That’s what Mitchell was brought in to do: sign players who can go on to perform to the level of Bowen or Guehi before someone else gets in there first.

I doubt we could afford Bowen but he would be a brilliant signing.

He is pissing away his career at West Ham, should be playing at a much higher level.

Bowen, Semenyo and Kulesevski would all suit our style. Sadly they would all cost £50m+ so we are likely looking abroad for players costing half that.

I really wish we'd found a way to do the Anderson/Elanga deal in the summer. He looks half decent, is young enough to still improve, plays with Isak for Sweden etc.

Barnes has West Ham written all over him. Kudus prefers to play on the RW too.

Barnes and a chunk of cash could get it done?

Not sure how much he would cost, but if we shift one or two out, I have always been a big fan of Edon Zhegrova from Lille. Fantastic winger and more than good enough to play in the Prem. Again, if we think a RW is that high of a priority versus other positions of need.
