As much as love him, If someone offered £15m id snap their hand off.

I think he's worth more than that to us. He can cover RB, LW, RW, CF, is no bother and doesn't moan about being on bench.

If we get Perez level money for him then he might be worth selling, but we wouldn't be able to replace him like for like for £15m

His banter level has decreased recently. He needs to work on that pre-season.

Too busy whipping peaches to the back post for banter

Fucker can hit a ball well, shame it's 1 in 3 or 4 times. Be good if he got back to his shithousing best.

Aye it feels wrong to lament his finishing when he got two today but he genuinely couldve had five.

Funny how we've started scoring again with this lad on the pitch.

I welcome it but I'm sure it's nothing to do with being at home against terrible opposition and all because of Murphy.

He can strike so well with both feet but he's so inconsistent.

i like him as a rotation option and he's clearly a great lad worth keeping around the squad but these inconsistencies should mean he is a player to bring in when the squad is stretched or in the league cup etc. he's not reliable enough to be our first choice RW, which is the current state of affairs. not if we want to compete for top 4 at least

His celebration for the first goal was unusually aggressive, shouting "WHAAAT?!" at the crowd. Wonder if he's been reading some shite about himself online.

He needs to stop spooning sitters then

He's obviously a nice lad, but he's also clearly the worst of our starting XI players and has needed upgrading for about 6 transfer windows now. He'd be amazing for a championship team chasing promotion

He’s not a natural finisher and his decision making obviously lets him down at times. But he does have good pace and work rate. His movement and the attacking positions is quite clever too and he makes a decent foil on the right did Gordon on the left. Ideally he’d be cover at best if we were a champions league side. We’re not though. He’s obviously going to be frustrating at times because of his deficiencies. But he’s a thoroughly likeable lad and it’s very pleasing when he puts in a performance like yesterday, for that reason

He's also a Newcastle fan and seemingly one of the players who buoys the dressing room and keeps them switched on to the area. We need players like Murphy around the place.

Yep. It’s a shame many seem to be focusing on chances misses instead of his two actual goals and that’s the thing, just about no-one ever scores 5 in a game, the fact he was in a position 5 times to possibly score is a thing that should be appreciated but seems to be overlooked.

Isak missed as many chances as Murphy did (and it could be argued they were better chances) yet no-one is saying Isak should have scored 4 or 5.

Sure he’s limited but he a very valuable squad member

If  "we only want a team who tries" actually means anything, then Murphy is that player. Never complains and always gives everything.

In isolation it doesn't mean anything. We want good players AND a team that tries. One without the other is pointless.

That said the actual quote is a "club that tries" not a team, and that's wholly different and more important.

Agreed.  Wasn't suggesting he was the answer to our prayers.

Highlight of Murphs performance for mine was when he got booked. He stole the mitt from the glove-wearing nonce on Leicester's team and sneakily put it on himself before running away from him and the ref. Incredibly subtle. Not sure how long it took the Leicester player to get his glove back. Hope his fingers didn't freeze off in the meantime.

Murph is one of my favourite players in the squad for all the reasons mentioned above. But I have to admit I have been frustrated by his performances at times this season. It's not like he's alone in that but perhaps he suffers unfairly in a relative sense from playing in a position that almost everyone had hoped would be upgraded in the summer. His poor performances are potentially a reminder of the failures of the summer transfer window. That's not fair on him, of course, but it's maybe an explanation.

The two goals he scored were beauts. He can't half hit a ball. But when it goes wrong for him fuck me it's wrong. I think he's got a great attitude and part of the reason why the squad is tight like it is.

But, and nothing on him, I do hope he is a squad player soon 😂
