Kid Dynamite 7179
Would people have been happier with Lucas Perez? He might be 3 x more expensive but they've got similar records in the premier league.

wolfy 12
A lot of Spanish players coming but seeing that we have a top manager who is also Spanish, then we just might see a change in Joselu's stats for the better. It could all go tits up but if we do get him over the line it's about backing him like any other and being optimistic about it all, consedering we've only just came back up. Billy Whitehurst 933
What a totally pointless signing. We're struggling to buy decent players as we have knackers like Riviere, Saivet, Colback, Hanley, and Haidara stinking the place out. Players, who appear to have been scouted by Ray Charles, and who we can't shift as we pay them way more than any other team will. We're just adding another mediocre player to our wage bill, who we won't be able to shift when he turns out to be shite. That said, in spite of his goalscoring record, he may turn out to be decent. I hope he does, but he is a massive risk given how much dross we already have in our squad.

Dr Gloom 22177
you pay peanuts... Newcastle United’s snail-paced recruitment drive in the transfer window is being compounded by wage demands of certain targets. Toon boss Rafa Benitez , who hopes to sign Stoke City’s Joselu and Chelsea’s Kenedy in the coming days, has been looking into the possibility of bringing both Lucas Perez and Kieran Gibbs to St James’ Park. But United chiefs are reluctant to pay any incoming players more than Newcastle’s current top earner Jonjo Shelvey - who earns £70,000 per week before bonuses. Perez’s wages have resulted in Deportivo La Coruna struggling to get a deal over the line with the player demanding over £70,000 per week while Gibbs’ move to Watford last week stalled because he wanted £80,000 per week. ewerk 31218
I can understand Gibbs looking £80k but Perez is in dream land if he thinks that he has done anything to deserve £70k pw.

acrossthepond 878
Lejeune looked good to be fair. Murphy at 12m was looking good when we thought it was only going to be the beginning of our summer spending, but now spending 12m (the majority of what we have, evidently) on an unproven player is looking very questionable. Merino is a loan, Manquillo is a PL reject, Atsu is a PL reject (good signing imo all the same), Joselu is a PL reject, and Kenedy is a PL reject. Tepid has not even been the word for this transfer window. If we end the window with Gayle, Mitrovic, and Joselu as our strikers we are fucked beyond belief, I'll go on record as saying that now. Kid Dynamite 7179
I'm not ready to write Joselu off before he's even signed like. Atsu couldn't get a game for Bournemouth or Everton and looking at his form at the end of last season over into pre season and the Spurs game he's consistently been one of our best players. It seems like Joselu has just hit some form for Stoke, scored 4 goals in pre season for them and most of the fans think it's crackers to move him on already. Dr Gloom 22177
I hope he's an upgrade on Murphy - a decent 3rd choice PL striker. Still think we need one more. Not to mention a left back, centre mid and a number 10. dont see us getting anywhere close to what we need, with just a couple of weeks left till the window closes. rogerbarton 24
I think it's a bit hasty to write Joselu off right away, and some Stoke fans seem to think they're losing a decent player. I'm quite concerned as to what's going to happen when Gayle gets injured though. We don't have anyone you'd trust to bang the goals in. Maybe Ashley's going to loosen the pursestrings slightly more towards the end of the window, but it's looking a bit concerning. If we're really stalling over paying Perez £10k per week more, when we're bringing in someone a lot worse in Joselu for £5m, it's a false economy.
