ewerk 30630
He wants £100k per week, that is far from astronomical in today's market. Whether he's worth it or not, I have no idea.
David Kelly 1245
I thought exactly the same. Weren't they talking about Abraham's being on more than £100k if he went to Wolves.
strawb 4268
It is mental for some kid who has played in America imo. I don’t know the salary cap in America but I imagine he is on a lot less over there?
Andrew 4771
Its not for someone making a move to this league though, especially at a price that would make him the standout star of the team hes joining, thats just how much players are on nowadays. NJS 4389
So they try and make a big deal of having made bids in excess of our record last summer but won't consider paying now about what we paid that same record signing fourteen fucking years ago. Howay 12496
Shock that it’s yet another bollocks bid our dickhead owner had no intention of actually completing. 100k a week wages isn’t crazy for a £25m player, I’m fairly sure Jonjo is on £60k-£70k isn’t he? And he was a £12m player. We’re just a pathetic club, he’s reacting to demands and prices as if this was all 10-15 years ago, I’d wager most PL sides have a couple players on or close to 100k a week. Yes but he only came to us because no one else wanted him AND we offered him far too much. I have no idea what the current "market rate" is for a $25m player, but if that is what it is, then you have to get on with it. No point in offering $500m for Messi and offering him $10k a week - unless, of course, you don't want the deal to go through .

Ayatollah Hermione 13882
How the fuck can you be off by EIGHT MILLION? Few hundred grand, a million or so, I understand but eight million quid apart in valuation

When, if ever, have you heard of a MLS player costing 25 million? And we all know that if the other clubs which are allegedly in for him, actually rated/wanted him, 25 million is a snip in today's prices. Truth is it is another Ashley ruse, there is no way the club is going to pay that sort of money for a player, let alone one from a 3rd tier league. And when we put ourselves in the position of weakness that we have done, half decent players won't come to us on the cheap. We won't pay any significant fees out while Ashley is here. Howay 12496
Aye, I think the point about being in a position of weakness is key. You’d think he’d understand that as a business man but he seems to get offended by people wanting a premium for strikers despite us not having a PL quality striker properly on our books for some time now.
