Thats the worst part isnt it, you think he may FINALLY have learnt a thing or two. After getting someone like Benetiz in. His interview cleared that up though and it was pretty clear from then onwards that he's as stupid as ever.

Once a cunt, always a cunt

Can't find the tweet now but I saw a few journos confirming it.

6 month loan deal would have taken him until the end of feb/beginning of March - against the rules. It'd have needed a 4-5 month loan deal until January. They couldn't even be arsed to count when fabricating this lie.

You must be the most optimistic of optimists if you think that. I naively thought it would've been different this time, but they never change. 10 years and they've learned nothing, fucked up in 2009, almost fucked up in 2013 and 2015, fucked up in 2016 and now they're squandering one of the biggest opportunities we've probably had in my time, albeit a short one, of supporting this club. They've lucked out by having Benitez fall into their laps and still managed to completely fuck it up. There is no reason whatsoever not to back him, wank little Huddersfield Town have backed their boss with 4 times as much cash (net), Brighton not far behind them but we've deliberately and purposely decided that £11m is all Benitez is worth.

I utterly despise the cunts running this club. Absolutely no point in struggling to get promoted only to make funds available to buy half of Demarai Gray. What was the point? Why were we all watching Brighton's games? Why did we bother worrying about Huddersfield's form or penchant for nicking late goals? Why did we worry? Absolutely no point or reason to continue to support this mess or the utter wankers that run it. It's just futile, if ever there was a time to back someone and see us progress it was this window, right now, and we've actively refused to compete.

I'll still be there at the Stoke game if Rafa's here, like.

This sums up exactly how I feel. I knew this was coming. It makes so little sense and yet I think deep down we all knew how it'd play out because this is the Ashley way. We've had a decade of this shit.

The fact we were lucky enough to stumble across a world class manager and had a rare chance to look to become competitive again makes Rafa's treatment all the more galling.

And yet I'm another sucker who will continue to watch our games despite it all. Won't any billionaire end this circle of misery and buy this cunt out?

If we accept that the club simply didn't have money this summer (which, if I recall, is what HF was saying early summer) - then none of this should be a surprise. Charnley even made a statement to that effect back in May.

Realistically, we've bet everything on Rafa being able to keep us up. If we go down, we won't be as financially vulnerable (I suppose) and if we stay up, we should be in a position to kick on next year. The market may even have calmed somewhat.

Huddersfield and Brighton - firstly, I'm guessing their financial situation was different to ours. They hadn't just had to tighten their belts from being relegated, and I assume have built things up sustainably. But secondly, they've bet everything on not going down. If they do go down, I imagine that they'll be in trouble.

The real problem we'll have is that if the club makes £50m profit this year from TV deals or whatever, Ashley might pocket a substantial amount of it to pay off the loan.

Nope. It's simply down to being run by cunts.

Off the top of my head we were expected to make a £30m operating loss last season. That was covered by Ashley's loan. We made a £30m profit on transfers last year too.

So Rafa had a £30m transfer surplus plus whatever profit is expected to be generated from the TV deal this year yet all we had to spend was £11m? No. It's utter incompetence.

I'll continue to find it very easy not to bother watching most of our games despite having just about all of them available via HD streams. It barely even feels like my club any more. There's only getting Rafa in as manager which has piqued my interest again relatively recently. The bonus is I'm just not really arsed any more. I find that a bit depressing but well, meh

As ever, I'm very prepared to accept that Charnley has failed us in negotiations in some form. I do wonder about how much money was available.

Moreover, we spent £12m on Murphy - I mean that's fine, but not if he's one of two significant buys for the summer. We could have spent that on Gibbs or someone useful.

We've had 10 years of fucking shite and there's only one person been there all that time. And even if Charnley were in some way to blame then the owner is more to blame for employing someone cheap and incompetent in such an important role. Tend to agree with the Quiffster anyway though

Yeah, it's almost as if Rafa expected there to be more money available.

The worry for me is that Rafa has been misled by Ashley and Charnley. He seemed satisfied after the meeting in May with the transfer kitty. Had he been told that this was only £11m I can't see how he would have been happy with this.

It's just an utter shambles. Another season watching shite on the field. I can't see Rafa being happy to go back to Anfield or Stamford Bridge and being utterly humiliated.

Suppose so but I do believe the team is better than we're giving it credit for, assuming we can avoid people being suspended. Chronically lacking in quality in depth, but the first team is ok IMO.

It is what it is. Rafa hasn't quit yet though.

We basically wrote off away games last season when Shelvey was out. Given the step up in the quality of opposition your optimism seems a little misplaced.

Maybe, but we beat West Ham without him (granted at home).

Optimism probably is misplaced though.

Don't think you can read a great deal into that, although we did play well in the 2nd half. They look to be absolute dogshit atm as well. I don't think we're nailed on to go down or anything but we were going to be amongst the runners and riders I reckon.

I agree with that assessment but was just expecting this anyway this season.

Think we'll end up 14/15th personally.

Just seems fucking stupid risking our survival especially as we've already had two relegations under his watch. It's another one of his shit gambles with a limited payoff. He probably loses more in the casino over the space of year than it would've taken to appease the best manager we're going to get

We'll be fine unless Rafa leaves then it'll unravel. It's usually chaos/disarray/uninterested squads that cause relegations as opposed to lack of quality. We'll be well organised and committed whilst he's here.

He's less emotional and more rational than Keegan but he's not going to hang around and have the piss taken out of him either. It's not like he's some deserate type like Pardew was when he arrived or McClaren where he won't get better offers.

They've probably made promises about the Jan window to keep him on board. That will be the last one imo. Rafa will have been sounded out by interested clubs by then and he will have a planned exit ready.

Yeah it's just a matter of time now & nobody will blame him. Told on Friday to shut up about the transfer budget then that yesterday it's a shame we didn't have a game tomorrow because no doubt he'd have let us know his feelings. In fact i hope that's the one thing he does before he leaves tells us what Ashley said to him regarding the budget.

It's fairly obvious Rafa was lied to regarding the transfer budget "he knows what he said" With Rafa being persauded to stay before season tickets went on sale Ashley knew demands for season tickets would be greater (money in the bank) if Rafa stayed. Rafa's reward for staying i'd imagine nothing like  what he was promised. Ashley's reward for Rafa staying, money in the  bank.

We looked decent against Spurs until Shelvey was sent off.
