Ah right got ya now, sorry but i can't help thinking we've a championship team going into the premiership league. Yes Rafa'-s a great manager but its evident he hasn't got the tools he wanted to do the job. I guess we'll know were we are after the Spurs game. A heavy defeat & Ashley may be enticed to throw a few quid in the kitty. A draw or a win could see us not bothering to make further signings. We all know the way Ashley works.

Key players in the previous campaign were obviously better than the Championship. We've an average Premier League side. We're nowhere near the top 6, but to be fair, who the fuck is? There's a raft of teams who're a bag of bollocks and we're certainly better than the two that came up with us. We've added quality and, perhaps most importantly, pace to the flanks. Merino is a step up on Colback already and Lejeune looks classy.

Of course I'd like to see more quality up front and perhaps someone at left back, but we're not a shitshow and we'll be all right.

As i say we'll know better after the Spurs game. Yeah we've played a few friendlies & done ok but playing 90 minutes against Spurs will give us a true test of were we're at.

not really, the could feasibly spank us 5-0, with the class they have, but it won't mean we're going down. 10 games in will give us a better idea of how the seasons going to go.

Should stick Krul in goals for a farewell. Turn that 5-0 into an exciting goalless draw.

Being linked with Andre Gray from Burnley for 20m, and James McCarthy too plus Perez from Arsenal rumours still doing rounds, though sounds like half of Europe are also in for him so we can probably rule him out.

Grays crap, McCarthy is a good player I'd have him.

I'd rather take a shot on Perez than Gray.

Fucking hell, can we put that 20million bid for gray in please?

2 hopes of that happening. A £4mil ish bid for a Stoke bench warmer is where we are competing at these days. Even Middlesbrough spent £15mil on a striker ffs

Apparently we are also in talks with West Ham for Adrian

I do worry that a team full of Spanish players (Adrian, Manquillo, Merino, Joselu) will be no better than Carr's French buys (Rivière, Haidara, Saivet, Marveaux, Gouffran).

Cheap shit is cheap shit, regardless of where they are from. Rafa has previous at Liverpool buying Josemi, Luis Garcia, Morientes, Arbeloa, Ayala, Riera etc.

We've signed a player who started less than half of our games in The Championship, a centre half who is unproven in England, a right back who looked iffy in one of the worst teams in PL history, a winger (with potential) who is unproven at the top level and a centre mid who has little top flight experience (who we have had to take on loan because we can't afford £6m or whatever it is). Now we're bidding for a striker who was behind Jon Walters and a 78 year old Peter Crouch in the pecking order. If any good comes out of this transfer window then it will be people finally realising that Ashley is never going to change. He'll only ever do what is necessary to keep us on the Premier League. He's just not willing to spend any more than he needs to to guarantee PL safety. Who have we signed that is going to significantly improve us on last season?

We'll stay up for a few years and then Rafa will fuck off and we'll likely go back down to The Championship and the cycle will continue for so long as Ashley owns us.

Roll on the new season!

Joselu ffs  Rumours getting more depressing by the day.

Why not take a punt on someone relatively unknown from Europe who might turn out to be decent rather than go for definite shite, if we're really in for him.
