Has Ashley given you some reason to think he's going to take money out of the club?

If not, where do you think all the cash is going to go if not towards transfers/wages/general improvements?

Quality players are commanding fees that would eat up more than half of our realistic budget. We need to see what we can pick up on loan or cheap first then go big on whatever is required afterwards. We'll spend plenty of money it's just a minefield knowing where to start. I think we're looking to sort out a few issues at reasonable cost before committing to bigger purchases

All of this.

Agree with Quiff, it's frustrating as a fan not to have plenty of new players but I think once the money from some of these high fee players starts being spent we'll see a fair bit more movement. I have a hard time thinking that we'll enter the season with what we have and that Rafa will walk.

We're in for this Murphy lad and likely others, as supporters it's justifiable that people just want to see him in but I don't have a problem with the club trying to negotiate his fee down a bit so they have more to spend on others. If they botch it all up and we end up with basically what we have going into the last week of the window then I'll start to get mad.

The thing for me is Murphy should be an easy signing for Charnley to oversee. If he takes all this time over an easy one. Dog help us when he gets to a £20/30 million player

You're missing the point though, leaving signings to the end of the window usually means we've missed out on the main targets and are scraping the barrel getting any old SHITE in. Which even you and Etwerp will admit that does not bode well for our season.

Etwerp is a new one. Not any better than previous attempts but still, at least it's something different.

My point, that you failed to grasp, is that we don't have a history under Ashley of making last minute panic purchases, despite what you say.

i agree we dont make last minute panic purchases because after we've dithered on about wether to put an offer in for a player they've normally signed for somebody else.

Riviere was deadline day.

Couple of papers suggesting we might make a £10mil bid for Ojo at Liverpool

A quick google shows he played 6 months on loan at Wolves, was dropped from the match day squad and Wolves fans were happy to get rid when his loan was cut short

£10mil  I know it's only paper talk but we bought Richie and Townsend for a similar price
