I don't think it's balanced.  There are two main points to that statement; it's no shock that the one that's focused on happens to paint him in a worse light.

If it was a once off it could just be coincidence but we both know that's not the case.

it hasn't twisted anything he said though. headlines aren't usually balanced - headlines are designed to grab attention and as such pick out the most newsworthy line. whether you agree with corbyn or not, linking UK foreign policy to the terror attacks is the top line in the piece.

the reporting below the headline seems perfectly balanced to me, no editorialising there

No room in the byline either?  Come on man, they know exactly what they're doing.

Unfortunately people are told what to think in those two lines.

What's more of a concern for Labour is that the IFS have come out this morning and said Labours plans to grow the state --- "will not work".

I still think people like lots of free stuff and there is a Brexit thing going on. Wether it can last?

They also say the tory manifesto is full of shit.

They're gambling on the tuition fees thing getting young people to vote which isn't a bad idea - though I'd rather the money was spent reversing cuts.

Sargon is rattled :D Which I'm loving.

he makes a reasonable point about the terrorist attacks in sweden. was uk foreign policy to blame there too?

It is a good point, agreed. I would suggest that we're all considered 'the same' in the eyes of the Islamists but to be brutally honest, Sargon isn't wrong about his views on this either. That said, when it has suited him in the past, he has blamed our foreign policy also.

right, so it's an ideology that is largely to blame - NOT FUCKING UK FOREIGN POLICY

that's the standfirst, which is designed to add context to the headline.

Ok thank you.

Still don't see any reason it can't mention the context that he hates the cunts too.

You honestly don't think UK foreign policy has played a significant role in this?

i've said it before many times on here. the intervention in iraq was misguided and no doubt fanned the flames, helping the terrorists recruit.

but do i blame that for the attack in machester, or the attack in sweden, or germany? no i blame a twisted death cult and the ideology that drives it.

It doesn't justify anything but I don't see how you can separate the two things.

i've never said that Uk foreign policy in iraq didn't play a role, many times i've told you that it played a part in creating sympathy for the terrorists, aiding their recruitment.

i just don't think it's the main thing to blame. only a complete moron would. i know the uk foreign policy isn't responsible for the attacks in sweden or germany, or belgium. it's the ideology that drive the attacks - the war on the crusaders and infidels.

i think you can. the jihadi ideology existed before we invaded iraq and afghanistan.

not that those interventions helped matters, but still.

anyway this is old ground that we've been over a million times before. the point is corbyn is a moron for trotting out this line now of all times, when he's trying to win an election and people are in shock, mourning or fucking furious. they won't want to hear this shit.
