We can't expect journalists to question Theresa the Appeaser when they're so busy asking Tim Farron whether he hates the gays he keeps voting to give equal rights to.

Aye, fucking laughable that like. And you wouldn't ask May of course, because rather than being a :quotes: committed Christian :quotes: , she's the daughter of a clergyman with a patchy record on LGBT rights issues.

Lib Dems standing down and endorsing Caroline Lucas in Brighton Pavilion. I imagine most of their voters would have known what to do anyway and will have voted tactically in the past (they only got 1.5k last time) but still, interesting.

Writing in The Sun, the foreign secretary accused the Labour leader of being a threat to the UK and described him as a "mutton-headed, old mugwump".

I guarantee you that not a single Sun reader knows what a mugwump is. Actually I'd say you'd struggle to find many in the country who knew what it meant. But still, thank God that the Conservatives are the party of the working class.

I thought it was a Roald Dahl character ?

Good, although I thought Farron had ruled out this sort of thing?

Specifically in the context of entering into a coalition with Labour in its current form (as well as the Tories), I think, because he can't support either party's position on (extreme) Brexit. So helping get another Brexit critic like Lucas re-elected is consisent with that, I suppose.

EDIT: Plus it was a local party decision, apparently. Not sure how much power they have vs. the mighty Tim at the end of the day, but it would seem churlish of him to overrule.

Ganging up ffs, as if they weren't always going to drive a hard bargain. It's in their interests to make sure we pay up the divorce bill before negotiating anything else - and ours tbf. Merkel accuses May of harbouring illusions. She isn't wrong, the same as all the other brexiteers who think this whole process is going to be straightforward - just willy waving - and that we'll eventually secure a cracking deal.

It's almost like they're this union who work together in each other's interests. Meanwhile watch as the terrorism stuff is used as another way to show how May can be trusted and Corbyn is lily-livered when it comes to making us all safe.

Are we in a bit of a low ebb for quality politicians or has it always been like this?

It seems like everyone in a prominent position exposes themselves as incompetent, unprepared or just a bit thick on almost a daily basis.

Definitely a low ebb. As much as Blair was not ideal, this sort of thing would never have happened to him.

Just shite everywhere when it comes to politicians.
