This is for all my English friends who want to know what the story is regarding the DUP.

1. They really don't want gay people to have cakes as the Bible strictly prohibits any combination of sodomy and fondant. I'm unsure how this affects lesbians though.
http://www.newsletter.co.uk/…/dup-conference-conscience-bil…
2. Think the world is 6000 years old. Those dinosaur bones? More top banter from God who the DUP believe is an absolute lad.
https://www.newscientist.com/…/2134162-five-things-you-nee…/
3. Don't like the old foreigners much.
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/…/video-youre-absolutely-…

4 Are you one of those Muslims that they have nowadays? GOOD NEWS!!!! The DUP have enhanced employment opportunities for you!!!!!!!
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/…/peter-robinson-i-wouldn…

5. That magic money tree the Conservatives were banging on about? The DUP have one. Just google the phrase "Cash for Ash".
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-38301428
6. They are vehemently opposed to terrorists........that aren't members of their immediate family.
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/…/terrorist-father-of-dup…

7. Any attempt to purchase a croissant prior to 1pm on Sunday afternoon is a hell-worthy sin and a crime punishable by flogging.
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/…/budget-2015-dup-will-no…
8. Don't believe that those gay lads have or need blood. Instead their veins run with a thick syrupy substance the colour of candy floss.
http://m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/…/gay-blood-donor-ban-dup-h…
9. There's no such thing as climate change so fuck up about it. Alright?
https://www.theguardian.com/…/from-climate-denial-to-aborti…

10 . They genuinely believe that dressing up in a pair of Mickey Mouse gloves and little city gent bowler hat combo, marching through the streets and singing songs about Catholics that their ancestors killed 300 years ago and burning a 40 foot tall pyramid of tyres and pallets constitutes "culture".
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/…/eleventh-night-bonfires…
11. Even though human breasts ARE functional, using them for their intended purpose is showing off.
http://www.thejournal.ie/sammy-wilson-breastfeeding-289082…/

12. They believe that the briefly popular country and western themed rhythmic ceremony known as "line dancing" is a one way path to eternal damnation.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/…/northern…/newsid_1337000/1337473.stm
13. Believe that weather patterns are acts of divine retribution from a God who is super concerned about what hole it goes in.
http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/…/mbe-for-former-dup-mayo…
ALSO PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!! The links I've posted from The Belfast Telegraph and BBC Northern Ireland are not to be taken seriously as they are two of Ulster's most beloved parody news sources. The Newsletter is effectively a church pamphlet that has achieved sentience and rebelled against its liberal parents

Very depressing stuff but at least it reminded me that Paisley is dead.

Apparently 43 elected MPs are openly gay.  I saw an interview with Soubry this morning where she said she didnt agree with the DUP on homosexuality, abortion etc.  Then said 'If we can put that aside.  How can you do that on these subjects?

If there was an election tomorrow, Corbyn would win, I reckon.

Unbelievable turn of events. I have to eat humble pie and say I called this completely wrong. Suddenly it's the tories who are in meltdown and Corbyn of all people who is looking statesmanlike.

Survation has Labour at 45% now.

I feel a bit like the Democrats with Trump - might suit labour to give them a little while to dig their hole and reap a bigger benefit.

Not sure if they'd be helped or hindered by Johnson being leader - I can see some people liking him but he snaps under pressure which will be illustrated nicely if he's centre stage of a GE campaign.

The battle isn't won yet mind. But at least Corbyn has achieved what I hoped he would in solidifying Labour's position on the left. Still a lot of work to do though as the Tories will absolutely fight a better campaign next time.

Not worried by Johnson, the man is a pillock who will buckle under scrutiny. Rudd would be a bigger challenge. Davidson too, although I don't think they're ready for her to lead yet.

They'll remember to seed their manifesto with bribes - thing is they can't really increase their share of the old vote.

Rudd needs a new seat before she can be leader.

Well that's it isn't it. The Tories are all about taking things away through the use of fear. Hard to imagine them offering hope, it's just not their thing. And hope should always beat fear.

Couldn't watch beyond him saying he'd always voted for Tony Blair but wouldn't vote for Corbyn because he could see through the spin.

I suppose it was too much to hope that the party would rally quickly. Jess Phillips and others already have their knives out for Corbyn again. Labour were buoyed by a protest vote apparently  (half true but not in the way they think) and that the party need to promise more policies than just spending.

I'm prepared to say that parts of what they're saying are true and make sense, but they need to realise that they are the ones who need to change, not the leadership.

Be interesting where this goes over Brexit. Labour fought on leaving the single market and stopping free movement of people. If they don't support government policy on these issues, will the leavers who felt safe with Labour return to the Tories at the next election.

Seems clear from what McDonnell was saying that Labour will see the course on Brexit. The thing is, I don't think they'll lose the lefties over that because their platform is so much better than the Tory one anyway.

Brexit will happen if Labour win. Not sure it will with the Tories now though...

Honestly, given the chaos Brexit has already caused, what type of idiot would you have to be to support it now? Other than immigration, I never even understood what Brexiters aimed to achieve. Oh yeah, there was us mass exporting British goods to the rest of the world and being allowed to eat bent bananas. Righto.

I wonder if the Tories now realise they're beat. It's possible, however unlikely, that they're putting the wheels in motion for soft Brexit knowing full well that they're on the way out anyway, and that they may as well minimise the damage.

This would put Labour in an awkward position in terms of which way to bend. We would think they'd follow suit, but it's possible that they might stick to their guns. In which case the Remainer vote behind Labour becomes sorely tested.

I think we all agree on here that it's a cluster fuck but the problem is the cost of saying to so many people, however correctly, that they were wrong to vote for it.

I think it will be hard for anyone to get any kind of deal that won't cost them in some way - that's why I'm happy for now for the tories to own it.
