Not to mention the incompetent matron running the show. First candidate for pm to ever u turn on one of her own manifesto promises. Shambolic. thats before we even start talking about the long term economic plan which his been swept under the carpet. And just a ten year delay on their target for eliminating the deficit, all while debt has been ballooning. how these cunts are still favourites is astonishing I don't disagree that we are pretty short on the ground of good MP's at the moment. TBF, the green shoots I've seen coming through tend to be more on the Labour side.

No side in this election has done proper costings and I think the public are cynical enough about election promises from all sides. Nothing to see here. I thought Paxman failed to take Corby down and millions would have watched that. The viewing figures were a third of what Britain's Got Talent had. Draw your own conclusions. They don't want to inform the public of the policies of the two parties so we can make an informed decision, they want to catch them out on their sums so they can get re-tweets. Paxman was the same last night. He pushed May hard on police numbers and in fairness she trotted them off, but then, that was her job for 7 fucking years, rather than a manifesto which is only weeks old, by virtue of May's u-turn and snap election. 100% agree with this view on the media. Park Life 71
Looking at the Tory maj and factoring the Labour comeback it will probably be around 25-30 which is a long way from the 50-60 people were talking about 3/4 weeks ago. There is a really good chance we can keep it in the 20's. Would have been better if the Lib Dems had shown more and taken those wet marginals and perhaps 15-20 Tory seats. Rayvin 5217
The Lib Dems appear to be a big letdown, agreed. I was hoping they'd take about 20 seats back from the Tories due to losing them last time. Unfortunately though, they don't appear to have a very strong sense of where the public mood is. Let's hope they can turn it around.

Dr Gloom 21915
@Alex Same here. I've been impressed with how Corbyn has handled himself during the campaign but he doesn't have to win over the likes of me, I was almost always going to vote for him. May will still win with a chunky majority not due to her being remotely competent but because Corbyn doesn't even attempt to speak to large parts of the electorate. In May's defence you can only beat what's in front of you. She's just been lucky enough to come up against the least threatening labour leader since Michael foot. Alex 35077
It is amusing how the whole idea behind the snap election was to make it a presidential May v Corbyn contest and she's turned out to be an absolute liability.

From your past posts, I can only conclude it's people who value a return to British Imperialism and the associated patriotism, over the opportunity to make themselves better off. Oh and anyone earning above £80k who doesn't have a conscience. If that's a sufficiently large proportion of the electorate to lose an election, then we're fucked no matter who is running the thing - the Labour leader who could appeal to such people wouldn't be able to resolve any of the problems. We'll see I suppose, but there should really be something in the Labour manifesto for everyone. Moreso than I've ever seen from Labour before. And yes, they're mostly royalist, patriotic, daily mail-reading arseholes. This is the country we live in, like it or not, and it isn't one which is ready to elect a bearded, socialist, academic manhole cover enthusiast, who won't commit to taking out the leader of Isis, won't condem the ira, doesn't bow his head the right way etc etc. its infuriating but this is the reality of the country we live in. NJS 4378
I was talking to someone at the weekend about the lack of tory "talent" - when you look at Johnson, Hammond and the rest and the fact that May only had to beat Leadsom and compare it with Thatchers day when there was a cabinet full of full on proper tory twats , it makes me hopeful about the future. As I said I think they'll win but May is finished imo - just have to hope the next one is just as shit.
Rayvin 5217
@Dr Gloom If they don't this time, 5 more years of the Tories will have them desperate enough to do so. I was confident in this happening a few weeks ago because I understood the problems in the Tory Party itself and its resultant fallout in the manifesto and projection of authority. Whereas political commentators and casual observers were just focused on Labour. What has also happened is that Corby has got some proper suits on and a haircut. Tories lost a few seats last night...I saw them evaporating when Jeremy had her stuttering on 'No deal bad deal'...The geezer in blue saying 'bollocks' when she was opining about the NHS and the laughter that spread on manifesto costings. People voted for Brexit out of desperation as much as small mindedness. For me, the whole thing comes down to this: Are people desperate, angry and wanting change, or are they just small minded racists. If it's the former, eventually we'll win. If the latter then agreed, we're fucked.

I actually think you might have a point there.
