You obviously haven't been following him closely like others on here.

I've followed Corbyn too and imo his performance has genuinely improved. The media haven't changed so what else could it be? He has been shambolic over Brexit and Trident though. May's own awful performances have been a needed distraction for him. Damage limitation is the name of the game now, I just hope if,when he loses he will make way for a credible candidate.

I think what has changed is that May has been exposed. The media are now far less comfortable with her. I genuinely think that's all it is. Well, that and the fact that he's out campaigning rather than having to manage the party.

Why would he have suddenly improved?

That's not what Renton said mind. He said Corbyn himself had impressed him.

And look, I had no intention to appear all-knowing here cos ffs, who cares - all I wanted to do was demonstrate that actually, he's not really changed. It's just that he's being handled differently by those who frame the discussion.

He's noticeably improved but from a very low base. And May has shat herself.

I would love Corbyn to win now more for the hilarity aspect. Politics nowadays is surreal. I'm coming round to Parkys way of thinking ffs.

Corbyn. I'm not actually a Sargon acolyte :D

Sargon's views on this whole matter miss the point, possibly because he's pushing his immigration narrative. Either way, he arrived at a very different conclusion to me looking at how the world has emerged from the referendum, and I flatly disagree with him on his assessment of UK politics.

'Watch the world burn' kinda thing?

I get that. I laughed when Trump was elected

The thing is, I actually can't conceive of what would happen were Corbyn to win. It's just so unlikely.

With reg to Corby and I am guilty of it too...Is that we have a preconceived idea of what a leading politician should look and sound like. What's happened is that with the manifesto launch he is on much firmer ground now and has grown into the role. Corby sound much more assured than May and his delivery is even and controlled unlike May who's delivery is shaky and nervous (especially over the last few days). Think the lead will close further and May literally has nowhere to go but down.

Yep, just a question of whether or not she sinks fast enough for it to make a difference.

I have to say though, it's not necessarily only a win if Corbyn ends up in No. 10. If we can stop a Tory majority, that's a win too.

I had doubts about a big Tory maj from the start but now I think it will be a miracle if they get one. The whole election calling thing has become a rolling nightmare as the Tories realise they've also picked the wrong leader. :D

Think preventing a Tory majority would be huge success when you look at where he / Labour were when the election was called. I think if the polls continue to show a narrowing of the gap then things will get nasty. That will go one of two ways with the smearing of Corbyn being a success or it backfiring as people see it for what it is. I think the latter isn't inconceivable.

Agree on this too - you'd hope that they've saturated the public with tales about Corbyn by now. Maybe that will actually have done him a favour in the long run.

All of this said though, we're running out of time and all it's going to take is one set back for Labour to lose a lot of the momentum they had. I'd be keeping Abbot far away from the press at this point.
