Happy Face 29
What happens in 15 years when there are literally no jobs? It could be positively Dickensian for the vast majority. Automation of jobs should go hand in hand with increased taxation (income and business), reduced working hours (3 day week) and rapid increases in both welfare and minimum wages. As it is, posit one extra bank holiday and a moderate increase to the living wage/taxes and you're demonised as a fringe left lunatic. Only the barbers will survive.. they can't automate haircuts, can they?

NJS 4446
It's sad to say, but I think a lot of anti-immigration traditional labour voters will vote for May stupidly thinking any "deal" she gets will include a reduction in migrants.

No. The Labour collapse is down to Corbyn. If this isn't obvious by now I give up.
Andrew 4966
Despite UKIP being battered my home consituency have still managed to elect one to the council. If this isn't obvious by now I give up.Yes, but part of that problem is because he and they are seen as so pro-immigration which is unpopular in traditional areas. If you think a new leader will instantly fix that you're dreaming. There was a video the other day of Farron talking to a bloke who was a lifelong labour voter who was voting tory simply to support a hard Brexit. No mention of leaders at all. Renton 22404
So why is half the West suffering from the same problem? Is Corbyn responsible for Trump and Le Pen too? Pointless trying to extrapolate to different countries. Both those mentioned are on an anti-establishment ticket anyway, aren't they? How does that explain May cleaning up here? Since Corbyn was elected by the 3 quid mob, Labour have collapsed. This collapse was predicted by myself, several others on here, and millions others. It's pretty simple what the problem is. No doubt his contradictory immigration views are a turn off, but the main problem is his credibility that of the shadow cabinet. Can you honestly imagine him as PM, really? The fact that this happening against a feeble Tory government is even more damning. BTW, I saw data today suggesting 70% of previous labour voters surveyed last week want to remain in the EU. The inverse is true of Tory voters. Doesn't support your theory. Edited May 5, 2017 by Renton

It's pretty simple what the problem is. It's about simple solutions to complex problems, people are scared and angry. The UK doesn't have a viable anti-establishment party, does it? UKIP were toast once the Tories went for a hard Brexit. I do agree with you that Corbyn has made it worse, but Labour were pretty fucked anyway. May wouldn't have called this election against a "normal" leader. It couldn't be worse for Labour as things stand.
adios 717
We'll probably always wonder how Labour with a strong pro-EU stance and a competent leader would have done.
