Without a sea change leftwards which is unlikely maybe an NL type government is the best we can hope for - depressing.

This is the problem. A centrist government can't lurch left without electoral disaster. It can lurch right with a good chance of success.

Because it's a waste of time if you feel that you're never going to get anything but the same in charge.

Ok but every post on here is arguably a waste of time by that measure. I find the intellectual stimulation of open debate to be worthwhile though.

Looks like UKIP are in danger of losing the muslim vote. They've proposed mandatory annual vag checks for young muslim girls, banning the burqa and longer sentences for grooming someone of another race.

Because grooming a white girl is worse than grooming a brown one.

I suppose we should consider it encouraging that in order to differentiate from the Tories, these are the lengths they have to go to...

But that said, fucking hell.

The Communist Party have just announced they're not going to field any candidates this year and will instead back Labour. Which is worth roughly 250 votes for Labour, and has been seized upon by the Tories as follows, ffs:

Let this sink in: Jeremy Corbyn has been endorsed today by a party who want to close down businesses, leave the protection of NATO and hike up taxes to a level never seen before in this country.

I suppose it'll be useful for the election, since Lib Dem members tend to also get out and actually do things in the real world unlike a lot of Corbynistas I know.

I've just followed the LD PPC for my constituency on Twitter to see if he's worth leafleting for, considering it's an utterly lost cause in an area with a good Labour MP who voted against Article 50 and got a 21k majority last time out (I voted for her then and might even do so again despite Corbyn, which is saying something). Might offer my services to the Vauxhall campaign instead... :D

I remain fascinated that all these people are genuinely convinced that the Tories have their best interests at heart. I could understand if they were swinging to the Liberals, but the Tories?
