Newcastle play their first competitive fixture at Hillsborough since December 2009 on Saturday teatime, heading to S6 for a 5.30pm start on Sky.

United are seeking a record-breaking fourteenth away league win this season and haven't lost on the road in the Championship since a 0-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers in early January - a run of seven games.

This has proved to be a successful venue for us in more recent times, with just one defeat there in the last eleven league visits.

All 3,100 away seats allocated in the upper section of the Leppings Lane (West) Stand were quickly sold.

SWFC: Vincent Sasso will be available following his three match ban. Sam Hutchinson is doubtful but Fernando Forestieri is fit again and could return.

Almen Abdi, Will Buckley and Kieran Lee are injured.

Ahead of our visit, Carlos Carvalhal's side make the short trip to already-relegated Rotherham United on Tuesday evening and ran out 2-0 winners.

The Owls have won 12 home league games to date this season, drawing two (Wolves 0-0, Burton 1-1) and losing the other five (Leeds 0-2, Brighton 1-2, Ipswich 1-2, Brentford 1-2 and Reading 0-2).

Referee: Stuart Attwell - first Toon posting this season for the Premier League whistler from Warwickshire, whose last game involving us was a 1-5 defeat at Crystal Palace back in November 2015.

Rather bizarrely, Attwell refereed our most recent competitive visit to Hillsborough - a 2-2 draw there back in December 2009.

Mags @ Owls - last ten:

2009/10 drew 2-2 Nolan, Ameobi
1999/00 won 2-0 Shearer, Gallacher
1998/99 drew 1-1 Shearer
1997/98 lost 1-2 Tomasson
1996/97 drew 1-1 Elliott
1995/96 won 2-0 Ginola, Beardsley
1994/95 drew 0-0
1993/94 won 1-0 Cole
1990/91 drew 2-2 McGhee 2
1988/89 won 2-1 R.McDonald, O'Neill

2-1. Decent time play these? Haven't they gone off the book a bit lately? I fancied them for the play offs but they're stuttering

They're still in 6th, but yeah their form's not great. Fortunately for them Fulham and Leeds are having an identical wobble. All with 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses in their last 6

Shef Wed look like a bit of a flat track bully to be honest, in the last 10 games they've only taken points from teams in the bottom half and only 14pts from the 30 available. (Except of course everybody's free hit against Norwich). Wins coming against Blackburn, Nottingham Forest, Norwich and Rotherham. Draws with Barnsley and Burton.

Shef Wed have 4 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses vs teams in the top 3rd (Only Preston have performed worse against that group). And two of those counted as "Top 3rd" are Villa and Norwich.

Fwiw;

They've kept 14 clean sheets this season and have only failed to score on 7 occasions

60% of their games have ended with under 2.5 goals

So you're saying it's going to be a scoreline along the lines of the famous 8-0?

That would be fucking aces, but no, it'll likely be a close affair.

I hope we fucking batter these after the fucking shit show last game where they just kicked our lot off the pitch and the ref let them do it.

I reckon whoever is reffing us will be nervous as fuck and shy away from any big decisions.

Sounds like the lad that bossed the reverse fixture (Hutchinson) will be missing. Also helps that we'll have Shelvey available for this game instead of starting with Colback and Hayden.

Hopefully QPR can stop Brighton from winning tonight and we pull off win. I'm very relaxed about promotion, tbh I think the heat is off us both now, the title is just a bonus which is why I can see us both winning most of the games left.

QPR are shit though.

Holloway has improved a lot on Hasselbaink's schmucks we had our wicked way with in September

For them who................

In California the match is going to be shown online via beIN Sports Connect, but it doesn't look like it's going to be shown on the telly.

Maybe so, but they're 16th. I'd be surprised if Brighton had any significant trouble putting them away.

Huddersfield 0-1 Burton

Forest 3-0 Brighton

Cardiff 2-0 Preston

Newcastle 0-1 Blackburn (twice)

Surprises happen

Fish, stats are for certified knackers. I demand that you stop using them and spend your money on elaborate scouting trips so you can actually tell us if they're shit or not.

Fish, the will of the British people must be heard.
