Howay 12496
Was he? Gouff has played out there loads, hasn't he? Just had a look as I remembered Atsu getting a good amount of games. It seems they sort of switched off between Ritchie, Gouffran and Atsu but Atsu was probably getting the least amount of games without bothering to look at more than 5-6 games. I agree he should be first choice over Gouffran mind, like Yedlin his pace is a real weapon for the side.
Tooj 17
"False nine" Â My Everton supporting mate has just txt me asking if Rafa thinks he's managing "Barcelona the fuckin stupid cunt" Is he calling him a false 9 because it's like having nobody there at all? Howay 12496
Colback inexplicably surviving another substitution. Can we please let Diame drop into CM more if we're bringing Perez on rather than carrying on with Colback ffs.

Dr Gloom 21959
Darlow has done brilliantly last 10. Wolves firing loads of balls into the box and he's come out and claimed loads of them
Howay 12496
I hope we put the next match to bed before the end. Can't hack this hanging onto a 1-0 lead every week
Howay 12496
Another mention by the commentator that Mitrovic could have been sent off before for two yellow cards.  And again  Good win in a really poor match, we took our chance and Wolves were absolutely fucking hopeless. Despite a few shakey moments in defence I don't really think Wolves got many clean chances mind. Edited February 11, 2017 by Howay
OTF 7297
Well that wasn't pretty. If we're this ugly to watch in the championship, imagine us in the PL with the likes of Colback, Dummet and Lascelles....
Billy Whitehurst 898
I think we can all agree that the game of football was the loser here. Â Excellent defending though, and thank fuck we had Darlow and not flapper Sels. Â I pity the neutrals who sat through that.

Noelie 103
We were poor against Derby and we were poorer against Wolves, we are getting worse instead of better. With the exception of Darlow and possibly of Clark & Atsu there wasn't anyone who in my opinion put in a decent shift. Yeah, I'm happy with the 3 points, but not the fucking way we got them. We were rubbish.

trooper 940
Ugly win, again we didn't have the killer instinct to finish the game off. Still 3 points are 3 points onwards & upwards
NJS 4389
Thing is there were a couple of breaks in the second half that came to nothing where Gayle would have been in - I think we'll be laughing when he gets back.

That's worth remembering tbf. We also really struggle when Shelvey isn't playing really well, we managed to win today while he was having a fairly poor game. He'll get back performing again soon and we'll have Gayle back too.
Billy Whitehurst 898
Well said Noelie, we were disgraceful. It was a poor game, and we probably didn't do ourselves justice, but to describe us as being disgraceful is completely ridiculous. Â Shelvey and Ritchie didn't offer much so we didn't have much going forward as they are our only creative players. However, we defended really well and hardly gave them any clear cut chances. All of our defence put in a right shift. We were very resilient and we haven't been able to say that very often over the last few years.
Dr Gloom 21959
Positives- The two centre halves and the goalkeeper were composed and resolute. We never really looked in danger of conceding. Â Negatives - colback, dummet, shelvey, who was anonymous, shows up how limited we are when he's off the boil

Billy Whitehurst 898
Billy Whitehurst,  to be top of the table and play like we did today is disgraceful, in fact appalling. Disgraceful and appalling, any more?  Disgraceful and appalling is how I would describe our capitulations against Sunderland, Southampton away, and pretty much all of those games we used to lose by three clear goals under Pardew.  I'd probably use those words to describe the attitude of the likes of Sissoko and Owen when they used to play for us.  This performance, and the attitude of the players, was a million miles away from that.  It was a poor performance but we dug in. Lascelles, Clark and Yedlin were excellent and, defensively, Dummett had one of his better games (the less said about the other side of his game, the better).  We've ground out a 1-0 win away from home against a team who beat us at home earlier in the season and who recently beat Liverpool at Anfield.  We're top of The Championship, no La Liga. We're in The Championship because we aren't very good, we're just a bit better than the dross around us.

Billy Whitehurst 898
ooooh, are you slapping me knuckles Billy. Not at all Noelle, I love your chat. Â We just appear to have different expectations. Â This probably stems from the fact that you've supported us when we have actually won things whereas I started during the mid 80s when the likes of George Reilly, Tony Cunningham and Billy Whitehurst quickly dampened my expectations. NJS 4389
Compared with 92/93 this is more of a grinding team but I don't think it's that different to 09/10 - the latter had a few games where Barton, Nolan or Carroll won games almost single-handedly and it wasn't pretty. Â I have doubts with Colback still getting a game and I'm still not convinced by Diame in that position but I think we'll be alright as long as Gayle comes back properly fit. Â Still think we should have strengthened though.
