Jesus

You don't think that the men and women who are systematically destroying the NHS are doing so to profit from it demise?

How fucking naive are you?

Jesus

CT, look at who profited from the sale of other state owned enterprises. Whether you agree with them being dismantled or not, surely you can agree that those deciding whether or not to dismantle them shouldn't have a vested interest in doing so.

I don't think there is some massive government agenda to destroy the NHS, no

Or are you talking about the labour years and the labour politicians that crippled trusts for years to come with PFI's and now sit with their noses in the trough?

Then you're an idiot.

I couldn't give a shit what party they claim allegiance to, protecting the NHS is important but thatcherites are destroying it to line their pockets. The junior doctors will fuck off elsewhere to be replaced by an expensive private healthcare alternative further increasing the gap between the haves and have nots. Of course you'll lap up the bullshit you're fed under some misguided notion that "we're all in it together".

I've said many times on here that ideally the NHS should be removed from politics altogether, but given the money swallowing hole that it is and will always be, that's never going to happen.

It's very simple. More privatisation, more reform or vastly higher taxes. It's very unlikely a party trying to get elected will ever win championing higher taxes.

Raise corporation taxes PL says. But they are a tool to make us competitive in an ever smaller world. The bottom line is higher taxes or more reform.

The junior doctors won't go anywhere. As always a deal will be done and life will go on.

We spend less on public health care as a percentage of GDP than most comparable nations.

48% of them are already fucking off elsewhere, after being subsidised to the tune of HALF A MILLION through YOUR taxes for their education.

Oops, silly me. As an impoverished taxi driver I forgot you don't pay taxes.

It's been that way for years. I remember not long after Blair arrived, he wanted to catch up and close the gap but couldn't / wouldn't.

Only way to do it is to choose to do it but that's taking money from elsewhere or raising taxes or borrowing. All political minefields.

That sounds like a Renton Bullshit quote

48% of the are going? When's this happening, tomorrow, Friday?

He increased it massively compared to what it was. We're still below OECD averages but have, objectively, one of the best health services in the world pound for health.

You just won't get this until your lot have destroyed it and you really need to use it though.

48% of medical graduates leave the nhs . Google it, you're good at that.

We were around two % points behind the other EU 14 countries in 2000 when he promised to match them. In 2009 we were still nearly 2 % points behind.

And let's not forget that a lot of that extra money he spent wasn't his. It's was my kids and your kids money, PRIVATE MONEY, which is why so many trusts are struggling today.

Well this in unraveling very quickly even by your standards. So 48% of juniors are NOT fucking off.

What you are referring to is a survey of 7000 students who have decided not to take further training after completing their foundation.

Here's some quotes you left out of your Daily Mail type misleading statement.

"an increasing trend towards gap years".

"Surprisingly, the figures do not show a big rise in the number of junior doctors opting to go and work abroad".

"The proportion of young medics seeking work as a doctor outside the UK has risen from 3.7% to 4.3% between 2010 and 2015".

Shame on you, you misleading drama queen.

I'd charge BUPA and the rest for the training of any recruits including nurses and the rest.

That would stop the cunts' tidy £30 a month plans.

Swing and a miss, CT.

Hardly, he said 48% of junior doctors were fucking off. Then it became graduates and now it seems there's actually a 1% increase in those going abroad since good old Labour left office. The rest are just trekking through Asia.

I should no better to get involved in a lefty debate.

The trouble is, on so many things, you know no better.

As an anecdotal aside, 6 out of the 9 junior doctors I know are 100% planning to leave the NHS if the contract is enforced as it stands. Some are planning to go to Australia, one is leaving the profession entirely.

Am working here on a phone so it's hard for me to link stuff properly. Here's one, what exactly are you disagreeing with?

https://nhsreality.wordpress.com/2015/12/31/only-52-of-doctors-completing-foundation-training-chose-to-enter-specialty-training/

It's widely accepted that nhs brain drain is a fucking massive problem, but of course CT , the impoverished 70k year taxi driver ex-sofa salesman knows better.

CT Can you not understand that this isn't about labour or conservatives? This is about the NHS.

I admittedly know fuck all on the subject but who am inclined to believe? The fucking people who work in and have experience of the NHS..

Point scoring/money making on this subject costs peoples lives, so laugh and joke about lefty/righty debates all you like, when people are dying because they can't afford their NHS bills you can take a long look at your loving leader and ask why. Doctors and NHS staff are massively undervalued and we won't know what we have until it's gone.

Absolute fucking cretin.

Okay, let's go with anecdotal evidence. Of 15 anaesthetic trainees (junior doctors) that I work with at the moment, 5 of them are pursuing or have already secured jobs abroad because of the current government proposals.

My sister-in-law is also a junior doctor. It really isn't all about the money. She would also fuck off abroad but my brother (a nurse) isn't keen.

I work with junior doctors every shift. They are already stretched beyond belief and DO work a 7-day service, as do we all, and we always have. The government are targeting the wrong people. In order to deliver a truly 7-day service, you need to run clinics, radiographers, dieticians, specialist nurses, secretaries, receptionists etc.

Why shouldn't SOME of it be about pay? I work permanent nights purely because of the unsocial hours payments. As a single mam I couldn't afford to feed myself and my child otherwise. I work every weekend and rely on that enhancement in my wages every month. Why the fuck should any of us work 8pm til 8am every Friday and Saturday night for the same wages as someone in a 9-5 desk job? Especially given the kind of stuff we're faced with every day.
