Think he's purposely engineered that himself though, shaking the blokes hand as he takes the nets down

Apparently they asked about next season and he said 'This is football you never know' or something like that

I reckon he'll get the backing. I have no faith in Ashley but I'd imagine he wants the club in the PL so will be happy to allow Rafa to ensure we stay in it, the issues will start if we're in a good position in January and Rafa wants to kick on or the following summer if we finished in a comfortable position. Those are the times I'm worried more about tbh.

I think he'll possibly get decent backing as the penny might have dropped that just surviving equals quite a decent chance of going down. As has been demonstrated twice. That's in the short-term. Ashley's always likely to do something really fucking stupid at some stage though

If we're 4th and want investment in January to push for champions league then, like when we bought Cisse, I think we will likely gamble next years income on hitting the big money league, safe in the knowledge we can belt tighten in the summer if it doesn't come off.

If we're 7th and want to push for Europa, or just to maintain a top half finish, there's no chance.  Better to keep the funds for summer and have another go at it the next year.

If we're struggling, then we'll still only spend in January the change left over from summer, if there's any.

Just notice Louise Taylor is talking about mutterings of a takeover.

If only someone more reputable was saying it. It'd be great if Qatar picked us up or something like that but being realistic, it's not going to happen while Ashley is still owed a debt mountain.

It has to look as attractive now as it's going to look with Rafa at the helm.

Hopefully, Ashley realises this and takes the money and runs.

Why would anyone pay £250m or whatever Ashley is charging, for a club worth about £100m? The only thing I can think of is that money is either no object, or they've looked at it and thought they can realise that money back again. If it's the latter, we'll probably have more years of 'sustainability' ahead of us, and frankly, I'd rather have Ashley for that. At least he might be learning from his mistakes.

These stories were always bound to come up when we got promoted tbh. As depressing as it is I can't see us being sold as the fat cunt will demand more than the club is worth for potential buyers. It would of course be nice to be bought, while it's a risk there's something sort of crap knowing we have to temper our excitement for anything Rafa can achieve at the club with the knowledge that at some point he'll be hamstrung in the transfer market and it'll be over.

I want rid of the fat prick asap tbh. As I say buyers are always a risk but this bloke has no intention of ever letting the club try and kick on short of mid-table dullness, he seems pretty shit at learning from his mistakes (still not buying from positions of strength) and even if he does learn it will just be to time our strengthening a bit better to avoid relegation.

Some Iranian paid £200m for a 49.9% stake in Everton. At that rate £250m would be a bargain.

At least he might be learning from his mistakes.

People really don't though, even after supposedly life-altering incidents.

And think about how much his penny-pinching mindset has been affirmed during his life already.
