Christmas Tree 4729
There's no way it's Rafa. We've never appointed anyone of his pedigree while Ashley's been here and are probably in our worst ever in which to try to do so now. Not exactly an attractive proposition right now is it? I don't know. He's under his wife's feet at the moment. Not nice. Massive wages and bonus for a 10 game run. No blame if it doesn't work, strong bargaining position and improved status if it does. TheGingerQuiff 2412
Yup. And another speech from Ashley about how things are now going to change. Right after we come back from the Championship. This team would get relegated from the Championship
Holden McGroin 6611
Why are they keeping McClaren on? Keep him on the board perhaps?
ewerk 30656
Just regarding this head coach/manager thing - wouldn't he have been a "head coach" at Madrid and Inter? Probably. But he can make more demands here than he could at either of those clubs.
ewerk 30656
So what happens if we fail to convince Benitez? Do we go to Moyes cap in hand and tell him that he's only second choice for the least desirable job in the PL?

ewerk 30656
I wouldn't be jumping for joy just yet. Are they going to break the news to McClaren mid-training? What's the odds that Charnley 'delegates' the task to Moncur?

gpirlo68 0
Aye, I expect this to stumble at the last and we'll end up with some cheap/shit alternative. Fucking deluded Geordies. Don't forget mate all Sunderland fans are geordies, RTG will not be happy if you state otherwise

Kid Dynamite 7034
He will be coming with the option to jump ship after ten games As for him being manager and having full control of signings http://www.theguardian.com/football/gallery/2009/may/20/liverpool-transfers
Kevin Carr's Gloves 3902
To be honest I have never like Rafa, I think he is over rated at the top level in football. That said I hope I am wrong and he has us avoiding relegation then knocking on the door of the top half of the table next year.
Alex 35111
If the likes of Moyes and Benitez are genuinely interested now, given our current predicament, it only reinforces how incompetent the club's hierarchy were in appointing McClaren in the first place. Chronic the Drug Wasp 6
Benitez had a job above his station but there's no doubt in my mind he'd get us going in the right direction, which is why I can't see Eddie Hitler getting him.

Kitman 2207
Tbh even if we got Benitez - which seems highly unlikely to me - or Moyes, I cant see 10 games being enough for them to save us from relegation. The team is so fucked up, we cant score or defend or even pass the ball and have zero backbone.

The team is so fucked up, we cant score or defend or even pass the ball and have zero backbone. We're one point off 17th with a team greatly underperforming. Hopefully we'll get the new manager bounce that pushes us through to the end of the season. None of the relegation threatened teams have looked like putting two wins together on the bounce. If we can do that then it should see us safe.
Kid Dynamite 7034
The 9 point gap above us is the worry. 3 weeks ago safety was in our own hands. Now we have to better Sunderland/Norwich game for game. I'd feel much more confident if Rafa had taken the team to Spain for a training camp
Dr Gloom 21963
we need four wins and a draw, i reckon, from 10 games. it won't be easy for anyone but we've got a kind run of fixtures.
Chronic the Drug Wasp 6
I think we have the quality to get ourselves out of it comfortably if the effort is there and hopefully a new manager will provoke the cunts into applying it.
