OTF 7473
From what I've seen of Shelvey his timing on tackles is horrid and his defensive positioning isn't great. A Liverpool supporting mate said that his tackling was horrible as well. May have improved at Swansea, but I've seen no signs in his two games for us. That's clearly not where his strengths lay. Anorthernsoul 1221
He's hit some form recently, he never stops running.
adios 717
Not sure if Darlow got MOTM yesterday, but Townsend shaded it for me with that run back to cover Anita and tackle Bolasie.
Dr Gloom 22134
I said it before but he's been our buy of the season.
adios 717
Agree. Very glad to have been totally wrong about him. Me about a nanosecond before he hit the top corner: "he's never going to score from there..." I know nothing about football.
Dr Gloom 22134
I thought he'd be good for us. Never really understood all the negativity around him signing. But I was basing my opinion of him mainly around what I'd seen of him in an England shirt, which is the form he seems to be reproducing for us. Frustrating at times but dangerous and a potential match winner
gpirlo68 0
Love him, cuts inside constantly but that's his game. His workrate is fantastic, constantly covers Anita on the right hand side. Really helped trying to stop Bolasie, it's just a shame we dont have another one of him to play on the other side
The Fish 10962
He's doing what I was worried he'd do (drive down the line, cut inside & shoot from 20-25yd), but as it's working I'm not tearing out my eyebrows. His work rate has impressed me though; had him down as a Duff-clone, but the Englishman is working far harder than the Irishman did. I'd still prefer him to work on his crossing, but that can wait until the summer. Could even play him, Perez and Mitrovic as a front three in a 4-3-3, the former two driving down the flanks and Mitrovic as the line leader. ewerk 31193
Agree. Very glad to have been totally wrong about him. Me about a nanosecond before he hit the top corner: "he's never going to score from there..." I know nothing about football. Four goals in eleven for us vs three goals in fifty for Spurs. I don't think that some of us were wrong to be skeptical but he's kicked on from what he was doing at Spurs by adding some end product.
Kid Dynamite 7166
Tbf his fifty games at Spurs came over a number of years. A run in the team has done him wonders. Same as Darlow and Lascelles. Now if he would only drop Cisse for Mitro...

His first touch though... deary me

Perez and Mitrovic haven't shown enough to be guaranteed starts next year. If we stay up I'd expect much better options to be brought in. Perez seems to have totally lost his way and Mitrovic would look better in WWF. By no means writing either off, but mitrovics first touch is poor and he struggles to hold the ball fairly often. Good cheer leader though.

David Kelly 1260
Nothing stuck at all with Cisse whereas it did with Mitro. Anyone with any sense could see that. Townsend has been far better than I expected I must admit. I still don't like having a winger that has to cut inside to be on his strong foot but it's working at the minute. He's better with his right than I thought though, would back his weak foot cross over our other wife players strong foot tbh. He's been a very pleasant surprise. Tom 14013
I don't think Mitrovic's hold up play has ever really come into question, as much as performance levels fluctuate it's obviously a strong part of his game. An extreme example of the logic applies would be to watch Payet blast a free kick over and say "Payet is shite at free kicks because he missed that one yesterday" Cisse's hold up play however is fucking useless as he's weak as piss and can't control a football.
