wykikitoon 22925 Posted Thursday at 19:36 Share Posted Thursday at 19:36 I go to Belgium in a couple of weeks to watch the cycling. It will be my 19th year (I think) going out there to watch various races. Only cut because of Covid. Over the last 6 years we have stayed in Ypres. Such a beautiful place. We have done a lot of the big cemeteries when out riding just looking, paying our respects etc. I am the one in charge of route planning for the rides and last night I was planning a route and looking at the map. Its just scary how there is so many cemeteries scattered about everywhere. I was listening to the podcast 'Not so quiet on the western front' and they said during WW1 the British Government made a decision not to have any repatriation of the fallen. Anyways I can't wait. Need a break from work, have a good drink and ride and watch men in lycra get dirty.

My family seems to have avoided the graves in the low country, although my great grandfather is buried somewhere in Turkey after Gallipoli.

One of the only places left in the world where you can play arcade machines as an adult without being called a paedo Until 2023 the age of consent in Japan was 13 so there isn't really an equivalent word for paedo, whatever paedo like behaviour you exhibit in an arcade.

Also, totally unrelated @Kid Dynamite, Japan has vending machines selling used knickers. Take an extra suitcase and stock up mate.

That used underwear reference remains the eternal warning in my head against saying anything flippant on the internet It can and will be used against you forever.

I accidentally took a deep and meaningful arty farty pic of my nippers at Thievpal- they’d gone quiet ( which is ALWAYS a sign of impending embuggerances with nippers), and I found them just stood totally silent looking out at all the graves. When I’ve had a few too many Pimm’s and Hors d’oevres I refer to it as “The Folly of Youth” shot, then break down in tears and shout “WWHHHYYY???” 2
