Thinking of more European weekends since my pals are in Krakow ATM and are loving it by all accounts. Anyone been to Budapest?

Aye, but in 1998 so probably not terribly useful to you. Grand old place if you like your big-statement architecture though.

I certainly do. Makes me feel like I'm in some kind of spy thriller. Actually fancy some sun this year so might head over to some sun drenched Eastern European city, sit outside a small pub all day and get burnt to a crisp

Any of the big ones along the Danube should see you right. Budapest also has this in its favour: http://www.mementopark.hu/?lang=en (though I'm fairly sure we paid a fraction of that to get in. In 1998, true, but they'd had McDonalds for a decade by then so I ask you)

I see they've got a Stokoeov statue. Looks canny, that though. I was thinking of Bratislava as it looks picturesque from the pictures but don't know anyone that's actually been.

I've used the airport for Vienna but haven't seen anything of Bratislava itself (the bus station definitely doesn't count). Friends who've been say it's pleasant if not thrilling, but that sounds like it might be exactly what you want. The beer is cheap and good and strong - a friend recommends this place, despite the unpromising name, but I get the impression you can basically just wander and find a beer hall pretty much anywhere - and the people are broadly happy to see you because you're there rather than in Prague. (Plus you've got the option of a trip to Vienna if it's too sedate for you - it's only an hour away so a dead easy way of killing two birds with one stone.)

All sounds up my alley. Might make it a trip to Vienna and then pop over to Bratislava for a day to have a bit wander about (drink)

As for the porn stars, Eastern European are right up my street tbf. Dark hair, pale complexion and an ever so tortured look in their eyes, like they live their lives, constantly repressing violent memories.

There's a novel in there somewhere. ;)

Well ended up being a boring twat and sticking to what I know I've arrived in Cyprus for a week.

Amazingly enough, busier than January but not as busy as September (my last two visits).

Granada is class like, the Alhambra is worth a visit. If you are taking little ones, it's a bit like Seville, it hardly gets a breeze and can be obressively hot in the summer

The first 3 months of this year have been utter pigshit so I'm taking the bairn to Spain to escape for a week in his Easter holidays. Haven't told him about it, just going to tell him the night before we fly.
