Anyone done Pen y Fan?

Doing it next week myself for the first time!  Know a few who have including the Fan Dance.  Apparently a moderate walk for most people with a decent amount of fitness

? What's this then?

It's a 24km session up it fully loaded up. It was initially used as part of SAS and Pathfinder selection but now they run lighter events as a taster for it. I know a lad who went for Pathfinder selection and basically this broke him. Doing it in Feb he got hypothermia the mad cunt.

I walked it, hungover, with 4 mates about 6 years ago.

Thought I was about to die. Might have been the drink, not sure. Took ages.

It was a lovely walk tbf. Have fun.

Did Tryfan today. A great walk with a grade 1 scramble in. Really bloody warm too which took me a bit by surprise.

Just had a pizza and.a coupe of beers and ready for bed 😜

One of my favourite hills, Tryfan.

Did you do the Adam and Eve jump at the top?

Think Pen y Fan may be a bit underwhelming after Tryfan on a nice day (not to decry the former, more to praise the latter) . I climbed it on the day peg boy Will married Cath, cheers for the bank holiday mate. Think I did Bristly ridge as well and got the Jimmy legs. Always wanted to do more scrambling but had a habit of turning to jelly. Striding Edge probably my limit now.

Anyway, enjoy!

You were spot on. Wish I had done fanny first then Tryfan. But was still enjoyable. Albeit windy as fuck today did make it hard work.

Really enjoyed Wales. Some really friendly people and great walking despite the weather.

Yesterday we went to Llandudno as the weather was shit. Went there as a bairn but can't remember it. But some really beautiful architecture there. Like most seaside resorts I suppose. Shame that large parts of it now are just left.

Today after the walk feeling buzzing came back to the digs. Dropped the stuff off and went into the village for a beer and a chill. Walked in the pub family of 6 or so all sat in Leeds utd tops. Turned around and walked straight back out 😂

Another Friday night stop over in Harrogate. All these fucking Yorkshire accents though :(

Shocking isn't it?  Go to fucking Yorkshire and they're everywhere.

Like being in Emmerdale!

Most of the actors are from Lancashire though which is odd.

There's a Katie Obriens opening soon in Harrogate soon. You'll have to get down for that.

Enjoy the stay!

Dont think I’ll be back. Called into the local greggs after a meal out to get a little sweet treat for back at the hotel, only to be told “WE DONT STOCK PEACH MELBAS”. Eh!!!

Just on my way back from Sorrento. A timely reminder of how much I love Italy and the bizarre near omnipresence of Tennent’s Super  I had completely forgotten about the latter. I’ve googled it before and I’ve still never really found a proper explanation

Anyway, ciao

It’s everywhere in Italy. It was in the fridge alongside the smoothies in a cafe I went to in Rome. Maybe they consider it a health tonic.

I'm thinking about going to Sorrento next October. Never been but it looks amazing in photos etc, and hoping it will be less busy at this time.

Might give the Tennents Supers a miss though.
