Dr Gloom 21922
the science of generally eating lower glycemic foods so as not to spike insulin is sound but this includes some of the carbs I have already mentioned. post-workout, it's the other way around. Then you want get the carbs (and protein) to the muscle cells as fast as possible. So a good helping of rice or something else you dismissed as bad is ideal. TheGingerQuiff 2412
Post exercise is an ideal time to use up your small controlled daily carb allowance. Not really any dispute surrounding the science here. Low carb high fat is effective, proven and works. It's all down to goals and preference like you say. But my point about carbs was that they are a more problematic food group than fat, which has a disproportionate reputation Edited October 19, 2016 by TheGingerQuiff

Dr Gloom 21922
It's pretty basic equation, I think, and a fairly obvious one. A calorie deficit = fat loss. I do agree with quiff that fats were unfairly demonised. The packaged food industry made millions flogging low fat "diet" prepared meals, ironically packed with sugars and salt and way worse for you than natural fats. Margarine vs butter being a prime example. Eliminating carbs altogether in my opinion is daft. Our bodies need carbs as much as they need protein and fats to function. catmag 337
Not a holiday, but I do have a little mini-break to The Land of The Mancs next month and a hot date to the theatre (dahhhling) with a local fella who remains as mental as ever. catmag 337
Too busy taking over the world, one 5-a-side footy pitch at a time. Whenever he's up north I get him very drunk and make him post on here, but he generally just suggests he's at my house watching my porn collection (which doesn't exist!) He's alive, well, and remains the funniest poster on here, despite not posting

Meenzer 15526
Went in 99 when we played there. Probably changed a bit but had a great time - cheap and a bit edgy. This was about Sofia, and having just got back I can only echo the above. Definitely a bit more money around the place nowadays, at least along the central boulevard and parks, so the eating/drinking is very good but a bit closer to western prices - still plenty of decrepit buildings and ripoff taxi drivers to ensure some local flavour though. Did a running tour that ended up at a craft beer bar (even Bulgaria has hipsters), went to a museum with all the old Communist statues laid out in a garden in the middle of a dull office complex, consumed copious amounts of espresso because they don't seem to know what a long black coffee is - all grand. Dr Gloom 21922
I went to Bucharest with work a few years back. What a shithole that was. Being chased by stray dogs was my most abiding memory
Renton 21623
Should have posted my previous post on here, but tomorrow is the last day of my lake district visit. When I booked this week I was dreading torrential rain and being couped up for a week with a 3 and 5 year old. However, the weather has been unreal, proper beer garden stuff in November! Today, after 2 days off to rest my fucked legs, I walked the high street range in amazing clarity of weather. It was brilliant seeing all the major ranges so clearly. The scafells, great gable, Helvellyn range and blencathra were particularly prominent. Very few places in the world are this beautiful imo. ChezGiven 0
They are mainly used for walking for most of the year, it's not just ski resorts and treacherous mountains. Done some nice hikes around Interlaken and the lakes around Zug are amazing and have very similar geological features to our own. Not really comparing the two as the colors and atmosphere are very different but Alpine walking is a very big thing in those parts.

Dr Gloom 21922
i was up in mammoth lakes and lake taho in late august, two parts of california best known as ski resorts. you can't beat that mountain air in the summer
Leon 13
.. I walked the high street range in amazing clarity of weather... If you do the High Street range when we have a really dry summer there's a good chance of seeing Mardale coming out of the retreating waters of Haweswater.
