When you watch his latest efforts at rallies, I think he looks defeated. Basically saying "why am I hear talking to you animals when I could be at home in Florida?" I think he's done. I think his great victory of putting women's lives at risk through banning abortions has completely fucked him, and it's a cause he doesn't even believe in. I think you're right. But nervous we are wrong.
Rayvin 5164 Posted yesterday at 15:21 Share Posted yesterday at 15:21 Something I've been struggling with a bit on my end in all this is that I seem to be applying a different standard to the US race compared to the UK elections. Harris is essentially a New Labour style candidate, a moderate who won't make any significant changes or address the things that I would argue are important. And yet in her case, I absolutely would vote for her without caring about any of her policies, simply because she's not Trump. I suppose it means I see Trump as a bigger threat to 'everything' than the Tories ever could be, but it's still somewhat hypocritical of me. I'll need to submit myself for some self flagellation, not sure I can have this one both ways.

Trump is even more racist than Farage, his policies are terrifying, and be more repulsive than Jabba the Hutt.

I mean if it was a straight run off between Starmer and anyone to the right of him I guess I would. Not sure what it is about our system that makes me want to resist that though, suppose part of me falls for the illusion that it isn't a binary choice. Mine tends to be "the best placed candidate to beat the Tories", which is Labour in my case. I would vote Lib Dem if they were clearly better placed mind. Not Reform though, obviously. I mean part of it is definitely a desire to stand up for my principles I guess, but perhaps it's easier with the US as my only real concerns are that they don't abandon Ukraine, and they don't collapse internationalism. It doesn't really bother me what they're doing domestically, though perhaps it should.

Well domestically Trump will turn the US into fascist dictatorship, with concentration camps for immigrants and women will be treated like they're in the hand maid's tale. Even before you factor in isolationist trade tariffs, difficult to imagine how that won't impact us. However, Theo Paphitis of all people made the reasonable point on LK this morning that a Trump presidency would force the UK back into the European fold, so you might actually like that! Unanticipated outcomes and all that.

I get their point- I would rather be viewed as garbage than a tory. I do get that their political views are wildly different to mine but it does appear to be a tongue and cheek outfit. Part of me wants to know how they printing on the bin bags, the other 97% of me knows that it would be knowledge that would never be useful. spongebob toonpants 3918
I actually think she comes over as a much more normal and relatable person than not just Trump (obviously) but Starmer Sunak Badenoch, in fact pretty much any politician I can think of
